My Thoughts On The Rewind

Just saw TomSka tweet out his thoughts, and I fully agree with them.

YouTube Rewind is never going to please everyone. But they tried to incorporate what they thought was important.

Was the Fortnite thing silly? Of course it was, but Fortnite really made waves in the community as a whole.

Burnout was at the tail end of last year, and I imagine continued through the beginning of this one. They had a quiet moment to reflect on this, and I think that’s the big thing.

YouTube Rewind 2017 went by so fast I couldn’t even comprehend what was going on half the time.

This one took things slower. And I liked it. It’s not perfect, but its a step in the right direction, and I think credit should be given where credit is due.

YouTube, I believe, made good choices here. And it was really cool to see the animators incorporated into the actual rewind, instead of just the end credits like they were last year.

TL/DR, We’re moving in the right direction, YouTube.

Some big news for you loyal followers!  Recently our production wasn’t doing great. Things were slipping and things weren’t getting done and this was mostly due to lack of motivation from everyone.  With new cast and team, some special team members with experience helping us out and setting us on a new path we created a whole new story and this one is FAR better than what we had prior!  Above is our new Game Description and Game Title Page and we hope it fills you guys with as much excitement as it does us!

Production on this game has been swiftly moving forward and is full steam ahead! We at Dapper Frog Games are excited to let you guys finally know of the changes!  Additionally folks on the fan server https://discord.gg/fdDzSYp are privy to some special things here and there and get first looks of stuff before it hits our blog! We’re a fun lovin’ community so come join us! We even put out cast calls there first when we need em! 

We hope that seeing this will inspire those other fan game creators to see that you should never give up! Rework what you have, work with your team and let them feed ideas into it too! Sometimes just a new story is enough to get the creative motivation flowing again!  Last but not least, we want to thank all of our followers for sticking with us, for those who have auditioned and those who have been a part of our team and left no matter how briefly you were with us, thank you for helping us get to where we are now! Calling all Actors, Artists and Musicians 

Hello there! I’m Mort one of the lead developers of Dapper Frog Games. I currently voice Antisepticeye for Sarcastic Pasta games’ The Boss: Glitch in the System, with over 11 months of voice acting and 20 years of acting experience, story and script writing, event hosting/running, plot running for RPs, dungeon mastering and much more! I’ve been trying to make a game of my own ever since rpg maker MV was released (previously i was on a trial with vx ace) and as my team slowly grows I believe its time to make it grow larger! 

Dapper Frog Games is seeking folks to help out in the creation of a Jacksepticeye fan game! Inspired by games like Batman Arkham Knight, Monkey Island, Secret Of Mana and more we’re aiming for a unique adventure with witty banter, comedy, action, horror and so much more to offer!

About the game  As Jack awakens from his coma it seems that things have changed while hes been gone. Everything is a mess, his friends are missing and it seems as though a certain glitchy someone might be the reason why. Jack must work together with his alter egos in order to solve puzzles only they can solve and find out just whats been going on while hes been asleep! Confronting Anti seems to be the ultimate goal but perhaps there is more going on than meets the ole septic eye…. The game offers an in depth story, plenty of quirky original characters, challenging puzzles, and a mechanic that allows the player to switch characters at will as they’ll be required to think about what is presented to them. The game also features voice acting and Easter eggs to find throughout and will offer a way for its team to deliver their own personal message to Jack himself.

We are currently seeking the following (Please note that we use rpg maker MV as our platform) Artists for posters, cut scenes and in game pictures Sprite artists for characters of all kinds Tile set artists for scenery in the game, items and more Sound and music (any kind will do as we seek to have some originality) Sound editors (bonus points if you can make glitchy sound effects) Voices for the following characters; Chase Schneeplestein Jackieboy man Marvin Robbie Angus Guards (any tone of voice) Child boy Child girl Jim news Jims Signe Possible others to be added, stay posted! 

Were looking for people with experience in rpg maker MV to help with coding and making the game work as intended Folks with experience in making cut scenes for rpg maker And just about anyone who thinks they can help out! We’ll also be looking for beta testers too!!

So the gifset above is from Mark’s video for the day (HAVE YOU EVER LOST SOMEONE? | You Left Me)

And it touches on something that I adore and admire about Mark, and honestly what I missed most while the man was in exile signing calender's.

It’s what he personally brings to the YouTube community. Usually, he’s a goof, and likes to act asinine and childish, but when push comes to shove, this is what happens. It’s something that I adore.

He tells you its okay. Whatever you are feeling, its okay. In a very calm, very serious manner.

And. Like, okay, don’t get me wrong, I love Jack, Jack brings positivity and happiness.

But Mark has a large bite of reality in a way that’s easy to chew. And that’s what I needed today. My friend called it an emotional reset.

I burst into tears today during Mark’s video. And they weren’t happy tears, they were grieving tears for the person I’ve lost. For the connection I felt to this game.

But it’s alright to feel that. It’s part of what we are as people.

If I ever had one goal as a YouTuber, it would be to be like this. To be able to give my experiences to others, so they can find a reason to keep surviving, day after day.

And I hope you can. Day after day. We’re here for you. Someone always will be.
