Hi whassup hello!!!))
In this world, there are people born with powers and there are ānormiesā which are regular citizens with no powers. Virgil and his wife are normies. They are happy with this arrangement though, as if youāre born with powers, you are destined to die. Be it by being a hero or dying a villain, one way or another, if born with powers, itās no secret death is inevitable.
Thatās why, when Virgil looked over his newborn sons, Logan and Roman, fear filled him as he saw, on their tiny little wrists, the mark meaning little the kids had powers.
Now, the kids are 15 years old and has many strange but strong powers. They attends a school that helps teach how to use their powers for good.
āUgh, Dad. This is stupid. Why do I have to this homework? Tomorrow I start battle training in school anyway!ā Roman huffs, falling dramatically on the couch and pouting.
āAnd while you, brother, complain about the work, I will be getting straight As as usual.ā Logan responded, with a cocky smirk.
((Iāll try to be active on this Iām sorry!!))
"Roman, just do your homework... for once?" uttered Virgil, gripping the table when his son spoke about Battle Training. "... that's tomorrow?".
He knew that day would come, but so soon? He was only 15! And Logan... packing all this knowledge all the time, it was only a matter of time until he was scooped up too. "I- you're staying home tomorrow".
āWhat?? S-Staying home?? Dad, you canāt be serious! I-I need to learn how to use my super strength. What if someone is in danger by a villain? N-Normies canāt face supervillains alone.ā Roman had tossed his pen to the floor on the last word. Virgil knew of course, that Roman meant zero harm calling normal people Normies. The word just sounded more offensive than it actually was.
Logan had raised his head. āAnd I need to finally harness my two powers. Weather control and telepathy are very challenging subjects to harness. Once I do, Iāll be a hero you can be proud of, father.ā Logan spoke with such gentleness and precision, as though heād been thinking about this scenario.
āI mean, God forbid you get yourself in troubleā¦ā Roman was shaking? Nothing scares Roman. Nothing. Right?
"I'm aware Roman... but just- you're staying home, that's final" answered Virgil, his anxiety clouding his judgement. But who could blame him, these were his children after all... a good parent should always want to protect their child.
"Hmm? What do you mean be? I'm already proud of you, I'm proud of both of you... I just- need you both to stay home... okay? Please...".
Roman huffed and sank onto his bed, making a dramatic show of rolling his eyes. āFine, but I donāt like it. I really want to learn how to harness my strength.ā Roman spoke quietly. Wasnāt his father tired of buying different types of steel so Roman wouldnāt break his bedroom door? Or paying water damage whenever Logan momentarily lost control over his weather power?
Logan only gave a curt nod in response. Suddenly, Loganās eyes began to glow a bright, almost violet-purple light as he gasped and spasmed. He picked Roman up and threw him into a wall before the light disappeared. Logan dropped to his knees, sputtering and gasping. āIām sorryā¦Iāllā¦Iāll do more research to stop whatever-ā Logan waved his hands all around. ā-THIS is!ā
āHeyā¦itās okayā¦Iām not hurt.ā Roman panted, getting up slowly. āIām okayā¦ā
Logan looked up at Virgil, his eyes terrified. Logan looked like he was 5 again in Virgilās eyes. āI-Iām so sorry.ā Logan whispered. āIāll help repair the wall. I-I didnāt mean. I meanā¦I-Iād never mean toā¦ā
"I know, Roman... and you will, just... later" responded Virgil, knowing he was being irrational and just delaying the inevitable. After all, his children were super... and nothing could be done to change that.
He was just taking a breath to calm down, when Roman flew through the air and smacked the wall. "Logan! Roman! Fuck, are you both okay?!" he panicked, tears filling his eyes. It was getting worse...
"Why... why did you guys have to have powers... why... it's not fair".
Logan looked stricken. He knew his father didn't mean it in a hurtful way, he was just worried. But.. God, Logan hated being the reason his family was always so scared and⦠in danger.. Logan tried to hide his sadness because it wasnāt Virgilās fault Logan and Roman couldnāt control their powers yet.
āI.. I'm sorry..ā he choked. Then he politely excused himself to his room, barricading himself inside in a frenzy. He couldn't keep doing this, hurting everyone around him. He grabbed every book he had on the subject and hid inside the reinforced āblanket fortā that.. was really more of a steel tent at this point, and desperately flipped through the pages. He had to find an answer somehow!! The school is supposed to help. Itās a strictly hero only school that helps situations just like these. Maybe Virgil was scared to send he and Roman there? But wouldnāt it be more helpful for Virgil to have his sons finally able to not cause harm by mistake? Logan didnāt know. All he wanted was to focus on the pages of his book. The pages started blurring together, and he realized he was crying. He couldn't even find an answer.. Not blubbering like this..
Roman tried to go after his brother. He busted down the door and shot a sheepish smile. āIāll pay for that.ā Roman said before sitting on the bed. āItāll be okay, Lo. I have a plan.ā
The next morning, the two snuck away to the school. Roman was kind enough to leave a note for Virgil. Heād wake up 2 hours after theyād left. They would have already be in class by the time he realized they were away.
