Oh C.S., you get me.
The thing about losing your best friend: You have the greatest day, & you wanna tell her all your silly, exciting stories. You’re stuck at the airport having bad luck, & you wanna pass the time talking to the person who will always agree w/ you that the ticket counter lady is corrupt (YA-YA! Sister solidarity, baby), the same way she’ll always automatically dislike any rude girls & jerk boyfriends w/out needing more than a look from you. It has nothing to do w/ obligation or a holiday, or seeking good advice, or out of boredom, (but you’ll call bc of all these things too), she’s just the person who you will always think of first no matter the reason. #motherlessdaughter
Flannel weather = 📚 on tap 🙌🏻 The @thebloggess new book is awesomely hilarious yet darkly real. (I like adjectives.) It’s about the writer’s choice to fight back at depression (& other mental illness like anxiety) by using her secret weapon: choosing to be #furiouslyhappy 😁🎉 She is inspiring me page by page not to give up on my life & my self. #Grief takes away so much, & kicks you in the gut while laughing at its own lame “yo mama” jokes & calling you names, & THEN it also blinds you from all the kewl stuff & love you got goin’ on around you. I will always miss my mama 🌻 Complicated #grief is dark & scary. But this cone of darkness teaches you, if you find the strength to look, that on some days getting out of bed & taking one baby-step forward is reason enough to live every day like it’s special… It’s reason enough to live the shit outta my life by choosing to be FURIOUSLY HAPPY!!!!! 💪🏻🔥⚡️💜

#TBT to the woman who made me. Moving back to NYC to resume my career is exciting & challenging & new. The city feels like home, so easy & familiar like my favorite jeans. I love my stomping grounds. But I can’t help admitting how different I feel after the past 10 months– as much as I wish I could forget what happened & avoid sounding too affected by losing my mama. I was sitting in washsq park the other evening & I caught myself worrying about a snapchat pic I was taking: my hair was so gross, my skin is crazy broken out w/ the move, my face looked fat… Do I look weird sitting here on the grass?! Then I stopped. I let too much of my best self slip away last time I lived in the city… Chasing after a life that looked good on Instagram & losing myself bc I never felt “serious” enough or “fashiony” like every one around me. If I can’t be strong after watching my mama’s strength during her cancer battle, well, then I might as well turn in my soul & be a robot. (No thanks.) I honestly don’t know what my future holds. I do know, though, that the only person who needs to take me seriously is me. I have so much admiration for many of the talented editors I’ve worked w/ or followed from within the magazine world. But, the most important job any super senior person will ever have happens no where near the office, it’s a collab at home w/ the people they love. I love seeing what designers put on the runways & streetcars & subways, I respect how hard they work to make so many beautiful things happen. But, will I ever see another piece of clothing that’s the most genius omg to-die-for work ever? Nah, I’ve seen too many beautiful smiles to not know better. Am I gonna stop picking tracks for fake fashion shows in my head? Try & stop meh! But, I’m also not ever going to be afraid to rock my STARWARS-loving, Jane Austen addicted, v. unsocial & dorky personality in favor of being sew “hip” “kewl” “chic” “sexy” or “fabulous” ever again. (Freeee at last, freeeee at last, baby ✌🏻️) I am confident I am a hardworker & good hire, but no matter where I end up working, my most important & cherished role will always be the time I spent w/ my mama in her final months.

Dear Mama,
Why do horrible things happen to amazing people? I miss you, mama. I am so sorry you were so sick. You deserved so much more than to die the way you did-- I wish you were still here so I could hug you. I would do anything to hear your voice and be able to talk to my best friend again. I love you.

Dream dress, dream headpiece, dream book shelves.
If it’s meant to be, it will be.
It makes me sad to think about how my mama will never have met the man I marry. I’ll always be wondering, daydreaming & pretending what it would be like if they had known each other.
#motherlessdaughters ... I’ve always been pretty family oriented & have always wanted kids... but losing my mama makes me even more dead serious about having a family. BRING ON THE BABIES... in like 20 yrs, though, of course.

Former Designer Duo Puts A Label On It
Gucci’s Former CEO and Former Creative Director Tied the Knot in A Nothing-Less-Than-Fabulous Italian Wedding
The fashion house royalty were married recently in a romantic and stylish ceremony in Rome. Former Gucci CEO, Patrizio De Marco, married former creative director (also) of Gucci, Frida Giannini, on June 5. The two were most recently in the press for stepping down from their positions at Gucci during the end of last year. However, judging by the blissful kiss captured by their friend, Olivia Mariotti, the powerhouse couple hasn’t let their recent career changes stop them from living out happily-ever-after and making it official.
The photo was posted on Olivia’s Instagram feed the day after the couple’s Italian nuptials. She captioned it using the fun wedding hashtags:
#aboutyesterday #justmarriedfridaepatrizio
The big ‘to-do’ about such a fashion-savvy couple saying ‘I-do’ was, of course, all about what Frida wore for her walk down the aisle. (Isn’t that always the most important part?! Find the perfect dress today.) Her choice may have surprised their guests, however! She did not wear a Gucci gown but instead chose a pale, petal-pink Valentino design. The dress was custom-made for Frida by the label’s creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, who are close with the couple. It pays to have friends in highly fashionable places!
Frida was definitely not the first famous bride to skip wearing traditional wedding white in favor of a more colorful gown!
Another gorgeous bride who also stunned in a custom Valentino gown earlier this year was Benedict Cumberbatch’s lucky wife, Sophie Hunter. And, no one can forget when the designer was worn by another bridal beauty, who now wears the very best label of all... Mrs. George Clooney.
Can’t get enough of celebrity weddings?! Remember when...
Has this Instagram-worthy wedding shot got you daydreaming about throwing your own romantic Italian ceremony? Here’s everything you need to consider when planning a destination wedding.
