SPIKE: They’re just trying to keep you safe, I expect.
@maikovich
“ - oh, god.” Olive pulled the drink away from her mouth to look at the name written across the side, eyebrows furrowing down in concern. That was not her name. “Um, excuse me? I think we grabbed the wrong drinks.” She held up the cardboard cup she’d grabbed to the person near her. “I found out the hard way, though, so to save you from any Olive germs, let me buy you another one.”
“You are very kind, but...”, Riley looked at her twisting his lips a little as he waited for any other kind of reaction. Usually quick, this time the male got distracted with his phone for just a second and that was enough for the girl to grab his drink, “...you probably want to find a bathroom soon. That was a prank coffee for someone; it has laxative and some other shit”.
maikovich:
“If you pay close attention, the happiest people can be the most ignorant. I wouldn’t know though, because I’m super smart. I watch Rick and Morty.” Maiah joked, a sweet laugh leaving her lips. “Well you seem like you always know what you want, so I guess you’ll never fall into that pool that everyone else, including me, is bound to be in.” She narrowed her eyes at what he said next, specifically the word ‘gone’. She could agree that they needed to have fun for the night. It made no sense in stopping it now. “Gone?” She repeated. “That sounds ominous. What are you the Godfather? Can I ask a favor on the day of my father’s wedding?” Maiah jokingly asked. “I’m not too worried about it. She’ll be gone sooner rather than later.” Her father was never good at being in relationships, so Maiah knew this was probably something that wouldn’t last too long, completely not bothered by what Riley said, assuming that he was joking. “We should totally do that! Like our own little book club. I like that idea!” She agreed, as they made it to his car and she slipped into the passenger seat, but not without mumbling a soft ‘thank you’ to her roommate.
Her mouth opened up in shock, as she let out a gasp. “You would do that! What kind of friend would you be, if you didn’t at least let me embarrass my stepmom on her big day? I mean, I know we’re supposed to be keeping it classy, but if I get drunk enough, I think you should just let me run free.”
“So you value happiness over knowledge, hm?”, he asked with a curious tilt of his head as he looked down at her, “ah, right, right; you watch Rick and Morty. Isn’t it too... irreverent for you? I thought you were more of a... Power Puff Girls kind of person”, he opinionated. A confident smile showed up at what he considered a compliment, cheerfully, he looked at her, proud of the achievement, “Yes! I always know what I want, doing so helps me trace the rute to my goal”, Riley explained as he started the car, ready to leave the building and head towards the event. At her questions, he couldn’t help but drop a little chuckle, OH, IF ONLY SHE KNEW. “Yeah, I am something like that. I know a lot of people, so I can get anything done! But remember that every favor has to be paid back and has to be of the same value of the favor you asked before or even maybe of way more value”, he replied, “Uuh, that actually sounded dangerous”, Riley commented with a teasing tone and an arched brow as she expressed her confidence about the short-term relationship of her father. A smile slipped onto his face as she cheered for the idea of having their ‘little book club’, so adorable. “Alright, I’ll let you pick the first book”.
Riley laughed and then briefly looked at her while the red light was on, “the kind of friend who would prefer to have you safe and sound in the closet than risking her life and dignity on the dance floor”, he replied with still a smile and quick scrunch of the nose. “If you are too drunk you will be too busy in the bathroom to embarrass your stepmother”.
It would happen sometimes. The smug attitude had to rest for a while and that caused his sensitive and even childish side to come out. It was a very rare thing to happen, but sometimes... sometimes Riley wasn’t very proud of his actions, sometimes things went wrong and the consequences of his acts reached more people than intended and there was nothing he could really do about it.
After he was released with a criminal record clean ( again ), he didn’t accept the ride home; instead, he decided to walk. There were so many things that were balling inside him, not allowing him to embrace the holy light that he usually wore as cape, that he simply pulled the hood over his head and before he knew it, tears were uncontrollably streaming down his face. He tried to wipe them out with the sleeve of his jacket, but they returned over and over again.
Walking with no apparent objective, he eventually found himself at the entrance of the big hotel that once was his home. He damned himself for letting his weakness drag him to the only place that ever brought him some kind of comfort; he damned himself, because he was aware that one of the things that bothered him was the fact that he knew it was matter of time until his own karma reached Alma as well. He raised his face, looking at the hotel and its bright lights like a beacon of light in that cold night. He heard the familiar voice of the woman that was not only his best friend, but also family to him and in a moment of slow thinking, he took a moment to wipe away his tears again and turn his head, hoping that Alma hadn’t seen him.

lovecarson:
Carson couldn’t stop the blush that hit his cheeks at Riley’s words that were oozing with double entendre and a reminder of the few times they had become so ultimately intimate with each other. He followed along with the bigger man as their arms were together and listened obediently to him speak. “I love butterflies as well, everytime I see one I try to follow it, unless I’m stuck in conversation and then I just have to watch it from afar” he admitted with a small grin. Another increase in his heart rate as he was called darling and a soft nod followed at the suggestion of the balcony. “I think so, she told me to go and enjoy myself, but if she needs something she will send people looking for me. So if you want to keep me to yourself tonight we are going to have to stay hidden away from the main action” he explained, glancing at Riley, nothing but adoration in his eyes as they grabbed drinks and made their way to the balcony. It was much quieter up here and Carson led them to a spot that was slightly secluded. “Can you kiss me again please” he breathed, the tone of his voice almost begging.
“Aren’t you quite a fair folk?”, he asked with a teasing chuckle after Carson expressed his love for butterflies, “Then I will have to sneak you into the Butterfly Dome someday, right?”, he asked with a hum as he turned to Carson and lifted his chin very softly with his flexed index before continuing his way. “Oh, I am very good at staying hidden, but the question is... can you keep your mouth shut?”, he wondered. As they reached the balcony, he leaned on the ledge, looking at the urban landscape, getting a brief flashback of the other places he had visited in the past, including his hometown. His mind started drifting away into a spiral of negative thoughts even as Carson lead him to a hidden spot, but as he spoke, he decided to let sex do the magic. Riley turned to his date without saying anything and crashed his mid-parted lips against his.

Maiah tilted her head in confusion. She had no idea how she could even stop a wedding or why she would even want to. She was never one to fight for what she wanted and always ended up dismissively taking whatever life threw at her. “Because he’s happy. They say ignorance is bliss.” Maiah shrugged, as she answered his question. “…But how would I even go about stopping a wedding. I mean, I can’t just throw a fit.” She was genuinely curious to what his mind could think of. Her eyes lit up when he mentioned that he was a book nerd. “I was too and obviously video games, as well. Sports were dull to me. But trust me, she’s the kind of woman to do Pilates twice a week and consider herself an athlete of Serena William’s caliber.” She joked as a laugh followed her words. “I said no to doing your laundry.” Maiah brought up with a proud smile, knowing well that if he asked again, she probably wouldn’t have the strength to say no. “Wait…did you trick me into admitting that?” A false sense of betrayal was expressed on her face, as she made her way to his car. “I’m only agreeing because at the end of the night having to deal with me will be more of a punishment.”
“Ignorance is not, Bliss, Maiah. Ignorance makes you stupid”, he replied with a roll of the eyes. “Look, I’m gonna be honest with you. Adults... well, adulter adults don’t know what they want most of the time. They pretend to have their shit together, but they don’t. They feel as lost as when they were just teenagers, but now they have learned to fake it”, he explained, “you know your father, you know what’s best for him better than he does. That’s obvious. There are a million legal and illegal ways to stop a wedding. We could be classy, let’s not ruin the party, it’s already paid and we all deserve a little fun, but afterwards, if you really want that woman GONE, I can make that happen just like that”, he commented with a quieter voice, a smile and a snap of his fingers before his expression turned mischievous and he continued his way. “Maybe we could pick a book together one day, hm? Share our opinions and... stuff?”, he offered, not really used to share his activities or experiences, but it would be good to get to know his sidekick a little more. Sidekick. How pretentious, Riley.
Riley smiled at her sudden realization and just chuckled a little as he opened the passengers door for her. “I can lock you in the supplies closet if you get too annoying”, he replied with a mocking grin as he got into the car as well and started the engine.
Dear future me,
Dear future me,
How does it look like from up there? Is it comfortable? Is it too windy? Are you there by yourself or did you take your friends with you? How is it, Riley? Tell me. How is it like to be above all and everything? How is it like to be praised and feared? (Wait, are you praised, feared or both?) Are you having fun? How is Alma? How is Maiah? Did you keep them alive as you promised, kiddo?
Did you?
DID YOU??
DID YOU???
Let this letter be a reminder that even against your will, you have started to bond with people. Yes, yes, I know we both wanted that, but... were you aware of the consequences? Concern, paranoia and fear are now part of your daily routine since you managed to involve two innocent souls in your wicked games. They don’t deserve this, Riley. They don’t deserve the lies and the danger you are putting them through. What are you gonna do if something happens to them? What are you gonna do when they don’t understand when something bad happens? What are you gonna tell their families? More lies?
I just hope that the future me can take the proper decisions, that he can hold people close and protect them, that he doesn’t let the anger and ambition corrupt him to a point of no return. I hope that I, Riley Mendel, can eventually pick the right thing to do.
Love, God.

what's something that you like to do to relax?
“I actually like watching Maiah play video games or just binge watch anything related to horror, mystery or crime”.
@maikovich
What has a head, a tail, is brown, and has no legs?
“A penny. That’s a good riddle, I like it”.
“I can’t believe I just heard the phrase ‘toxic femininity’ being used in a sentence,” Atlas spit, and his face scrunched up in disgust. “What kind of weak fucking man thinks that’s even a thing?” He scowled at the person stomping out of the bar and turned back to the one sitting next to him. “My dog has more sense than him and her brain is the size of a walnut.” He took a deep breath and brushed his annoyance away before raising a curious eyebrow. “Sorry, shit like that tends to make me rant. What’s up?”
“Small dick energy, bro”, Riley replied before turning to grab his drink just delivered from the bartender. “I’m assuming he has problems with his mother and then his attitude caused his girlfriend to break up with him”, he guessed with a shrug, “a chain of events in which the woman tried to gain power over him caused him to think like that, most likely. I bet he jacks off to every Call of Duty victory he gets”, he added, now with a little mocking smile on his lips before he decided to take another sip. “Me? Oh, nothing too interesting, the other day a kid in the zoo insisted on touching poison ivy at the butterfly dome and the parents, of course, did nothing and instead tried to sue the zoo”.
Skylar’s chest felt like it might burst. This was probably the most activity the tall musician had ever gotten that wasn’t in the horizontal sense. A large hand pressed to his chest as he turned the corner in the mall, nearly slipping as he did so. “Fuck,” He breathed, leaning against the wall and turning his attention to the person closest to him. “Do you mind if I hide here with you?” He asked, obviously breathless as he allowed his free hand that wasn’t attempting to keep his heart inside his chest to push his bangs back from his lightly damp forehead. Why the hell had he thought it was a good idea to go into hot topic? What had possessed him to think that a store that generally catered to his teenage fans would be anywhere near a safe place for the now very popular musician? Since coming forward about his marriage to his roommate the internet had been awash with nothing but coverage on him. It wasn’t that surprising that he’d been completely run out of the store by overexcited teens.
Picking something for his potential serial killer best friend’s birthday wasn’t turning out as easy as he thought. Hot Topic might have worked for Basil, but it wasn’t working to pick something for Zach. Riley was at the back, searching through some clothes, hoping to find something that said ‘hey, look at me, I’m a cute edgelord!’, but nothing was really doing the trick. It was then when the flailing arms of a man made into the store and into the corner he was so calmly looking for something. The other seemed rushed, really agitated, had they committed a crime? Immediately, the genius, searched for blood or a weapon, but nothing could be seen after his quick scan. “You’d probably prefer to crouch, otherwise your long noodle body is going to give you away”, Riley expressed as he returned his eyes to study a black shirt with the print of a skull with carnations instead of eyes, “does this look too edgy for you? Edgy-hipster, maybe?”
lovecarson:
Carson felt that familiar electric shiver run down his spine, a feeling he only seemed to encounter when Riley was around, as the man moved in close to his ear. The way he was also still holding his tie as if it was a lead of some sort was unnoticed by the oblivious male, too focused on the warm breath that filled his ear. “R-right, sorry, I shouldn’t have said that, my mouth sometimes gets away from me” he muttered in apology, cursing himself internally for being so cavalier with Riley’s job. “Also, what exactly is a lepidopterist?” has asked as the space was back between them and his tie was being fixed. Another wide grin then crept onto his face at the next words. “You did? You do? Because I was hoping to spend my whole time with you as well” he replied, staring lovingly at Riley with his big puppy eyes. “Shall we get drinks? And then maybe find a table in a quiet spot?”
“What can I say? I love it when your mouth gets away”, he replies with a teasing tone as he begins to walk again, inserting himself into the crowd that paid little to no attention to them since they represented no importance in such event; while Riley really enjoyed the attention, he could live one night without being under the spotlight, just quietly studying all the figures of power presented there. “A leptidopterist is the one who studies butterflies and moths; I like all bugs, but the winged ones are specially charming to me”, he explains, moving aside from the center of the carpet to let walk a couple of powerful investors. “Sure, darling, let us get drinks and a nice spot, maybe in the balcony?”, he suggests, heading into the building. “Has your wicked boss let you be for the rest of the event?”
maikovich:
“Yeah, exactly. And you should have seen the dress fitting. I can’t relate to this woman at all. I told her that I wanted to make a video game and she flat out made the stupid comment that games keep kids from going outside and playing sports. That’s such a stupid thing to say…” Her words cut off softly as she noticed him checking his phone, assuming that she was probably rambling too much. “Sports keep kids from playing sports.” She spoke under her breath. “And I can say no when needed.” Maiah added with a little indignant huff. “Eww, yeah. You’re definitely fired.” She acted as if she was disgusted by his confidence, even though it made her smile. “I have a stepmom to tease and poke fun at me now.” The sound of a ding came from the elevator as it made it to the lobby and she stepped out once the doors opened. “Well, I don’t dance. Not because I don’t want to, but because I can’t. Also, I have a two drink limit for myself. I learned the hard way that my tolerance level is pretty low. So if you see me reach for a third drink, please stop me.”
“If you don’t like this woman, why don’t you make your father change his mind?”, he asks with a little shrug; of course, Riley could think of a million ideas, suggest at least ten thousand plans with every alphabet letter, but there was no need on expressing how much mental stability he lacked of. “I was never much a sports fan, to be honest, but neither of video games. I was a book nerd when I was younger”, he explains, “but I do see the flaws on her arguments and just her... whole existence”, Riley laughed. “You are too kind, you can’t say no”, he argued back with a half smirk and a hand on his hip. As they stepped out of the lobby, Riley tried to empathize with her situation, to actually feel bad about the whole thing, but... it was basically impossible, he had nothing to compare that with. As he listened to her, he nodded with a mischievous smile, leading to the parking lot of the building to find his car. “Okay, so... we are going to dance and get drunk. Sounds like an amazing idea to forget about the shitty real point of the celebration, don’t you think? Besides, it’s not so far from here, we could always take an uber back if I’m too drunk to drive”.
