sad whale songs
Lobitos, El Cuartel
A quick summary of this lovely place (pictures and stories to come). I haven't worn shoes all week, my only outfits consisted of my bathing suit, sundress and jean shorts, I've taken a shower once, and my knees still have wax on them rubbed off from my surfboard 🌊
Chao Miraflores ❤️
Baby steps in language immersion
Officially changed my phone's language to Español and finally downloaded Duolingo. What I learned yesterday... "Salsa" means sauce and "emparedado" menas sandwich. How I went all through Spanish classes in high school and college not knowing that is beyond me.
Don't judge me. Had to take a picture of this adorable, well dressed, old man carrying just a few flowers and no more.
My dad's response to the latest entry... Gotta love him, always looking out for me even when we're 3,714 miles away from each other ❤️
Would you rather... When meeting a new boyfriend's family, fart at the dinner table or have your boob pop out at the dinner table?

Baile conmigo 💜
I don't dance the same way back home like I do here. The music, bass, and vocals beat to a sultry rhythm that immediately takes over the hips. It also helps that everyone around me mooooooves just as smoothly as the music. People say Vermonters are born with flannels on, maple syrup in hand, and the ability to hike. Peruvians are born with a proud sense of home and flexible hips that move like slinkys.
This is where I sat after officially becoming a solo traveler for the reminder of my trip. My darling travel companion is heading home due to severe homesickness and I couldn't be more proud of her for being so honest with me and herself. Of course it's jarring being on my own, but secretly I've been excited for this moment of becoming a lone wolf explorer, solely looking after myself. I see this as an opportunity, so let the adventures begin ❤️
Thank you Vermont and all the love it encompasses for a healing two weeks, even though it was a visit due to circumstances that still make my heart hurt. Back to Peru and the adventures that await ❤️🇵🇪
A little break...
¡Hola amigos! I will update with pictures, songs, passages and more because the last week has been filled with A LOT to say the least. However, right now I'm in the Atlanta, Georgia airport waiting for my flight back home where I will be visiting for two weeks. An unexpected tragic accident occurred and took the life of one of my friends. My family, community and best friends are all distraught and deeply saddened. It just didn't seem right to be away from them during this heart breaking time. So my travels are on pause for two weeks so I can cry with my loved ones, attend the service and support everyone else who is suffering. Un beso xo
Does she know that being a vegetarian makes you cry more? Bet she didn't learn that in school.
Taylor Asher's father John Asher, who is not a vegetarian, but was so kind to give us advice about being homesick.
A trip is not complete without music and songs to help you remember the journey later on. I´ve been playing this on repeat the last two days! I feel like this song will always remind me of Miraflores xo
🦁
An extra look at my pictures <3
Miraflores, Lima to Paracas
The first transition of our trip has arrived. Tomorrow we will take a bus to Paracas--a few hours south--where we will volunteer in a backpacker hostel doing various chores, explore famous landscapes such as the chandelier, drink more pisco, and of course eat amazing food. Although, it is extremely bitter sweet to leave this beautiful city that I've become so attached to. My wanderlust for adventure and new places is the sweet part of this parting. The bitter part is leaving my favorite vegan cafe that I can't help but order the same avocado sandwich each time. The bitter part is leaving the beautiful Malecon paths that I've been running every morning, with deep views of the ocean and surfers. The other bitter part is leaving the beautiful people I've met, and leaving a particular beautiful person that I'll always remember. Gracias por las cenas de ceviche, Parque de Reserva, conversaciones buenas, and making me fall in love with this white gold city. Un beso❤️
