ethan felt like he was right back to where they started before their ghostface plans began. just sitting and waiting to move, laying low, keeping to themselves like a normal grieving family. except now it was just him and his sister, on the run. the headphones in his ears help him ignore the fact he has no where to go but this diner and his mind stays focused on the sketchpad in front of him, drawing out different things in his mind. ethan only looks up as the drink is placed in front of him, nodding to the waitress before looking back down to his drawing.
his pencil pauses and he looks up, pulling the earbud away. " oh uh.. " he pauses, looking at the time on his phone before back up to her. " no i'm uh.. good. " eyes look around at the place, never once realizing it might be weird to sit here all day. he was just told to wait for quinn here, and the last of their money went towards lunch. " sorry I can.. leave? " he wasn't sure where else to go but, he didn't want to draw attention to himself either. " oh- it's.. " he pauses for a second, thinking of anything else but his real name. " matt.. "
Alma smiled at the guy. "No. It's alright." She told him. "I'm here for a little bit longer so you can stay until then. They might kick you out after I leave. Next shift isn't so nice. Bunch of grouchy ladies." She chuckled. "There is a motel a mile down the road though, cheap but cute. Very pink." She laughed. "The girl that works there is nice though, might be able to give you a deal if you're low on money." Alma explained.
"Just let me know if you need anything...Matt." She said before walking back to the counter.

amber pauses, how could she ever give him the truth? a smile starts to form on her lips, knowing her fake name wouldn't pulling anything up, but she looks away from him, trying to hide it. " maybe you spelled it wrong.. " though he didn't even try to hide she was lying now. eyes look back to him, raising her eyebrow and smirking. " i'm not running. " words are finished with a shrug. she could make up some fake story of why she was running, but something told her he could spot a lie from a mile away. " why? you have any theories? " she asks, tilting her head at him.
she rolls her eyes, looking away from him but calms down, sighing softly while leading back in the chair. truthfully, she only took the knife cause she wanted it, she wasn't scared, but amber knew it was better to play the scared girl around new people. " sure. " amber comments, looking back to him and shrugging. " so what? am I in trouble now.. gonna double my house fees for this or something? "
"No, I don't think so, but it's alright. I'm not here cause problems. I protect my girls and I intend to do that if anyone should come looking for you. I just want you to know that you don't need to lie to me." Dane explained. "Well I know you can handle yourself that's for sure. So I don't think you're running from some asshole. Maybe to cops though." He smirked.
Dane sighed and shook his head. "No, Jesus. I'm not gonna do that." He assured her. "But. I do have a favor to ask you." He ran a hand over his face. "She's a hell of a dancer but she's too submissive. My guess is her father was a piece of shit, religious type. Look out for her. Make sure she knows that she's the one in control. Not the customer."
▬ι𓆃 -----------------------
amber huffs, pulling the jacket up on her shoulders before following him down the hall and ignoring the stares from the other girls. if this was her trying to keep a low profile she really was doing a bad job. she plops down into the chair, keeping quiet but her annoyed look stays on her features; she knew dane was in the right, that's what made it even worse.
eyes look away hearing he can tell she's new to all this, but it made sense. the most amber had done before this was taking ballet classes in middle school. she was a good dancer, but this took skill. she looks back to him, glaring before finally speaking. " I didn't beat the shit out of him.. " he'd be dead if she did. a humorless laugh falls from her lips and she rolls her eyes at him. " yeah? the bouncers are gonna keep us safe? "
she shakes her head before finally pulling her knife in her hand out, tossing it onto his desk. " pulled this off that asshole. just sitting on his belt... " arms cross over her chest, raising and eyebrow to him. " shouldn't the bouncers be looking for that kinda shit? "
"Look. How about you start telling me the truth, cause I ran your name, the one you gave me. It's not in any system, I didn't say anything because well, girls never really tell the truth when they come here. All of them they're running from something." Dane said softly. "What are you running from?"
He sighed. "Look, we're on Route 66, most of these guys are truckers." He tells her. "It's a pocket knife. I'm sorry he was allowed in the back with it." He picked it up. "I can have everyone searched before they go into the back rooms." He nodded. "Is that a fair compromise?"
Jeremiah hated working the early mornings at the gas station but he guess it was better than working the late nights. When the bell above the door dinged he looked up. "Good morning." He said with a smile. "Coffee is fresh."

Alma walked over to the table with another mt dew. "Here you go, Sweetie." She said setting it down. She probably should just go back behind the counter but he had been here all day. She worried.
"We're on the dinner menu now, it's been hours since you had lunch, can I get you something?" The waitress felt like there was something off about the kid but she felt bad for him. He'd been here all day just sitting.
"What's your name?"

"Don’t look back."
"I missed you."
"It’s too late."
"Please don’t go."
"You promised me."
"Who did this?"
"I forgive you."
"We were gods."
"Leave me alone."
"They found us."
"Trust me, please."
"I need help."
"Run. Don’t stop."
"It wasn’t me."
"I remember everything."
"Burn it all."
"Tell me why."
"You never called."
"It’s just rain."
"You owe me."
"She’s not breathing."
"Is that blood?"
"You were right."
"It ends now."
"We start over."
"Stay with me."
"Nothing feels real."
"I hate this."
"Do it now."
"They're watching us."
"Make it stop."
"It's not yours."
"I was waiting."
"He’s behind you."
"They’re all gone."
"Time is up."
"Bring them back."
"It’s our turn."
"This is wrong."
"Don’t let go."
"We are cursed."
"No one knows."
"You're not real."
"Don’t say it."
"I saw everything."
"Nothing ever changes."
"Call it off."
"What are you?"
"I found it."
"Let me in."
“Absolutely! I’ve got a shelf in the back with a good amount of our overstock if you’d like to take a look.” Rae offered a warm smile as she gestured for the other to follow her, leading the way and stepping aside to let them browse at their own pace.
"Thank you." Esther said softly. "I really appreciate it. I've been having' trouble getting books into my library. It's really small. Not many people want to donate money or books to it. Which is so sad. I know there's kindles and audio books now, but I just love reading a physical copy of a book you know?"

amber hadn't been working at the club long so she knew she shouldn't be causing trouble like this; but her temper has always been hard to control. before she knows it, she's screaming at the man grabbing her and forcing him to the floor, pinning him down under her sharp heel. the door swinging open is luck for him, otherwise, he would have left with more than just a bruised ego. she looks up to her manager, anger in her eyes as she's pulled off of the man. she scoffs at the question, rolling her eyes while concealing the pocket knife in her hand. " him hurt me? " she asks as if it was the craziest thing ever. " as if he could hurt me. -- fucking weak ass bitch!" the insult is yelled at the man as he's pulled past her.
finally, amber looks up to dane, rolling her eyes again but letting him place the jacket over her shoulders. " he kept fucking touching me, that's what happened. " she starts while her hands under the jacket close her knife, hiding it from him. " when i told him to fuck off, he pulled me on top of him. fucking pussy can't take no for an answer. "
Dane sighed. "Come on. Let's go to my office." People were watching. "Alright. Back to work!" He said as he lead Amber to his office. He closed the door. "Sit down." He motioned to the seat in front of his desk.
He walked over is liquor cabinet and pulled out a bottle and a glass. "Look, you're new. New to the club, new to dancing, don't think I can't tell, because I can." He smirked. "But you're good. I want you to thrive her. As I do with all my girls." He sat on the edge of the desk. "You can't be beating the shit out of the customers?" He told her.
"Now I'm not saying he didn't deserve it, but that's what the bouncers are for. To protect you. To keep your hands, clean."
"Nice to meet you." Murphy only wished it was in better circumstances. "Always hard to find the vermin isn't it." He muttered. They could hide all the want, nothing stops a Delacour on a war path. "Campbell Farm." He repeated with a nod. "A map or a ride would be appreciated. Can't say I know my way around rural areas."
He sighed. "Yes, the son. Your brother mentioned him, said he's no better than the father ready to take over for him." The idea of an older brother that could hurt his younger sibling made him feel sick; his siblings were everything to him. Big brother was the title he was most proud of. "You don't strike me as a piece of shit, so I'm sorry that happened to you." He said honestly. His lip twitched slightly with a feeling he couldn't explain but he understood loving Cecelia and never wanting to hurt her. Loving her was easy, wanting to protect her was second nature.
Murphy looked to him and let out a breath. "I'm sure wherever she is, she's alright.." He trailed off, "and she's well taken care of and safe and laughing a lot more."
"Yeah." He nodded. "Sure I can give you a ride. Better than you getting lost." He nodded. Isaac shook his head. "Well thanks. You don't gotta believe me, you don't know but I appreciate it." He sighed. Isaac didn't think the the Campbell's deserved anything good. He'd wanted to make them pay for years, but he he knew he couldn't. He didn't care what happened to him but his brother. He had to make sure he was safe.
He looked at the guy before sighing and grabbing his keys. "Come on." He muttered heading to his truck. "It's about a half an hour away." He said as he tossed his bag in the back and opened the drive door. He reached over and unlocked the passenger seat.
"So...whats the business you want with the Campbell's. You don't seem like someone who would be all the way out here. I mean. You're clearly from a big city."
Dane was behind the bar when he heard the yelling. "Shit." He said grabbing the bat from behind the bar. He made his way to the back rooms. "Hey!" He said opening one of the door. He held the bat up but saw he didn't need to.
The costumer was on the ground, a heel dug into his chest. Dane gave the bat to the bouncer behind him. "Get him outta here." He said before moving to Amber. "Hey. Look at me. Tell me what happened?"He pulled her gently out of the room, pulling his jacket off and wrapping it around her.
"Did he hurt you?"

“If you keep looking at me like that, I won’t be able to think straight.”
“You should really stop standing that close… unless you’re trying to make a point.”
“Your heart’s racing. Is it fear, or something else?”
“You’ve got no idea what you do to me, do you?”
“Say my name again. Slower.”
“If I leaned in right now, would you stop me?”
“Careful—keep staring and people might notice what you’re thinking.”
“You always smell like trouble.”
“You make it hard to remember why this is a bad idea.”
“If you wanted me to leave, you would’ve made me by now.”

“You really don’t need to touch me to make your point… but I’m not complaining.”
“Do you always breathe this heavily when someone’s near you?”
“You’re shaking. Is that anger—or anticipation?”
“You shouldn’t be this close to me. I might take it the wrong way.”
“I think you like testing my patience.”
“You don’t have to say anything—your body already did.”
“One step closer, and you’ll find out exactly what I mean.”
“You’ve been staring at my mouth all night.”
“This is dangerous, you know that.”
“For once, I’d like to know what you’re thinking when you look at me like that.”

“Tell me to stop, and I will.”
“You shouldn’t say things like that if you don’t mean them.”
“Do you really think I came here for conversation?”
“There’s something about the way you say my name that ruins me.”
“If I touch you now, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop.”
“You look like sin dressed up in restraint.”
“You’re not helping by looking at me like that.”
“This tension is going to break eventually. Might as well decide how.”
“You always show up when I’m trying to forget you.”
“I should go—but I don’t want to.”

“You keep pretending it’s just banter. It’s not.”
“Maybe we’re both too stubborn to admit what this is.”
“If I told you I’ve thought about this before, would that scare you?”
“This is dangerous, but gods, it feels right.”
“You’re trembling—don’t tell me you’re not feeling this too.”
“You can’t keep playing with fire and expect not to get burned.”
“Don’t look at me like that. I might forget how to be decent.”
“Every time you leave, I pretend I don’t care. I’m a terrible liar.”
“If this is a mistake, it’s one I’ll make twice.”

DREW STARKEY at Netflix's TUDUM Event
salem may know nothing about cars, but she knew driving her pink porsche out here in the dirt and unfinished roads was probably not great for it. it also brought her unwanted attention when she was just trying to blend in. as if a montgomery could blend in somewhere like here. the engine light had been on for god knows how long, and her dad always stressed how important it was for her to take care of such a nice car, so salem is pulling into a middle of nowhere mechanic. hoping they knew what to do. pop music blasts from her speakers, only stopping when the door is opened and shes sighing at the guys comment.
the blonde steps from the car, pulling her bag with it and placing her sunglasses on her head as she watches him circle her car. " well, do you know what you're doing with it? I can pay.. like whatever you need. but like... my dad will know if i'm ripped off.. " her words are said with much less conviction then she would like, trying to mimic her mother's attitude so she wasn't screwed over, but salem has never been the mean one. glossed lips press into a straight line at his question, lifting her shoulders into a quick shrug before looking away from him. " nothing.. what are you doing in the middle of nowhere? " she's also never been a good liar.
"Well I'm the ONLY mechanic for about a hundred miles so you're shit outta luck, Baby." He tells her. "But nah, I ain't gonna rip you off. Though you look like you're not hurtin' for money." He smirked as he walked around the car.
"You probably just need a tune up. I can take a look see what we're working with." He took the keys from her and opened the door. He reached down and popped the hood.
"So what is a Hollywood Princess like you doin' out in the middle of fucking nowhere?" Isaac asked.
