Also in total disbelief that YNTCD is over 2 years old! That was the 1st music video that I streamed on repeat when it came out, trying to pick apart Easter eggs and work out who all the celebrities were. So yay! Watch YNTCD for a happy burst this pride.
I've been trying to improve my hand lettering lately and I did this little thing pictured instead of writing a speech. I'm getting better at the writing but there's still a long way to go. Also found a slate board from when I was younger and did some calligraphy on there (of course it was more fan art)
right so I've had a day to process/ not process red tv. 30 songs is A LOT. Also, looked at her website and couldn't seem to preorder a CD? Only digital editions? Need CD to add to taylor swift CD shelf though don't I. I can't wait to see people hyped up about WANGBT again. I hope new songs are given a spotlight this time round, rather than the All Too Well/ WANGBT spotlight last time. Though All Too Well will never receive enough love. Literally just a stream of thought right here
I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken. It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly. The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independence, and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability and hopelessness. Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past. And this is all to say, that the next album I’ll be releasing is my version of Red.
Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way.

nOT CoPING. The fact we've been waiting for the 10 minute version for so long and she found it and it's like a connection she has with us and I'm close to tears. So overwhelmed. Red is her most overlooked album, joint with speak now, especially considering the success of WANGBT with the general populus and ATW with swifties. Other absolute masterpieces are overlooked (STREAM THE LUCKY ONE BESTIES) which is actually disappointing but surely they'll be revived now. Also my personal favourite is holy ground so can't wait to hear that with her mature voice. ED SHEERAN MORE COLLABS?????????????

and therefore... Tim McGraw

I mean what a way to say she has nice eyes!!!
Let's look at Little Mix's Reggaeton Lento remix: "It started when I looked in her eyes// I got close and I'm like 'Bailemos' [hey] "
Little Mix were about 25 then. And Taylor was about 15 when she wrote this. Absolutely NO shame to LMX but this is a clear demonstration of Taylor's talents :)
Or we can look at Harry Styles' Adore You, again bop of a song but lyrically Taylor is superior (please don't come at me):
"I get so lost inside your eyes"
He was 23 when he released this song and it's undoubtedly less poetic than our beloved @taylorswift. Again, he's a great artist but I prefer queen Taylor.
Now that we've compared a few other artists, let's look a bit more at the connotations of her lyrics, like in a true English lesson:
According to a lovely little google, blue is associated with freedom, imagination, intuition and sensitivity. It's also linked to trust, loyalty, intelligence and sadness.
This would make sense in the context. We know Taylor won a poetry competition as a child (intelligence) and was clearly ultra imaginative. She later confesses to actually not be experiencing true relationships during this era, this makes her imaginations seem even more incredible doesn't it!
Now, what's the meaning behind Georgia in Tim McGraw? I don't know! Georgia was a good few hours drive from her residence, so why the reference? I'd love it if someone shared their ideas on this with me :) Of course, after the 2020 US election result, Georgia DID turn blue. Was she foreshadowing? WOW
