Mathias Malzieu, The Boy With the Cuckoo-Clock Heart
so young, so sad salute your pain like a tired soldier hang the flag at half mast to mourn the loss of your 7 year old tantrums and unpunished curiosity you grew up sideways your friends are skyscrapers and you are still a one floor lobby with an unfinished basement you can’t look the sun in the eyes like the others they tell you that you are an adult while you stay in the car as your mom goes food shopping the sea floor is spreading by millimeters at this moment, there are two people meeting and falling in love right now, trucks are colliding on the freeway as we speak and you are still in the car there is no pain like the kind they don’t have a name for and they all tell you that you are too young to be this sad as if it is only okay to hurt when you’re older and on your own you were a child once you played in the street and stained your mouth with ice cream and summer once you even swallowed a lightning bug because you wanted it’s light inside of you do not listen to them when they tell you it’s all in your head, darling of course it is that’s always been the problem
