Episode 5: The Princess Bride

After a long hiatus, we finally have an episode in the feed.  Go catch it!

The tool we used this go around was Sococo (and Google Spreadsheets).  We played a game called Bus Trip and experimented with applying exercises stolen from the Stanford D School's Design Thinking to our agile retrospective.

Warning: There are a few rough sections in the audio in this one.  I've cut out all the unbearable and painful stuff, so there are a few gaps here and there.  The beginning is a bit rough, but stick with it, it gets better.  Also, when we split into different rooms, I've split into stereo - but don't worry, it's not overlapping!  You can use the "chapters" to jump out of the breakout sessions to the next combined session.

Episode 4: Waking Ned Devine

There's episodes in the jar.  The fourth episode has been poured.  In this episode, we conduct a retrospective for Waking Ned Devine (or, as it was originally called, Waking Ned).  Our participants on this episode are:

Two and a half hours of retrospective distilled to just this side of an hour.

The tool we used in this episode was HP Virtual Rooms.  We played a game we called Elephant in the Room to try to get each other to discover the things we wanted to cover. We also played a version of triple nickels to suggest changes to improve the movie if it wanted to accomplish what we thought it wanted to. (Remember folks, it's a bad idea to retrospect for somebody else.)

The music was “Antoine et Zoé” from the album Horizon by Chaussettes de Dangan (whose name I completely mangle in the podcast -- sorry about that!).  That album is available via Creative Commons Attribution, Share-Alike license, so this episode matches that license.  You can use this podcast as long as you give us proper attribution AND you share your art to the same degree.

Episode 3: Howl's Moving Castle

The third episode has just been released into the wild.  In this episode, we conduct a retrospective for Howl's Moving Castle.  Our participants on this episode are:

The tool we used in this episode was Twiddla.  We had a rough time of it with the tool and will likely give it another chance in a future episode.  This time around, we attacked the movie more as a product-release retrospective than as a team time box retro.  

The music was "Playing Softly" from the album Soundtracks by Andreas Mayer.  That song is available via Creative Commons Non-commercial, Attribution, Share-Alike license, so this episode matches that license.  You can use this podcast as long as it's not for commercial gain, you give us proper attribution, AND you share your art to the same degree.

Episode 2: Ocean's 11 (1960)

Our second episode is up and streaming through iTunes.  In this episode, we conduct a team retrospective (by proxy) for Ocean's 11, the original 1960 movie.  Our participants this time around are:

The tool we used in this episode for visual interaction was Google Docs.  Techniques included: Business Cards, Retrospective Poker, Event-Driven Values Santafish, and Radar Plot (which I think I called a spider chart on the show).  Screenshots will be available in the Ephemera posting for this episode.

The music was taken from the album Life the Movie, by Fri.Events.  I used the song "Hide and Seek" because it sounded very caperish.  Once again, we've been mining Jamendo for Creative Commons licensed music.  That song is available under a CC 3.0 Share-Alike Attribution license, and so is our episode.

Episode 1: Charlie's Angels

Our first episode is up and streaming through iTunes.  In this episode, we conduct a team retrospective (by proxy) for Charlie's Angels, the 2000 movie.  Our participants this time around are:

The tool we used in this episode to draw and make cards was Cacoo.  Techniques included: Time Line, Energy Seismograph, and Balloon. 

The music for this episode was taken from the album How to Buy a TV, by Nelson Jenstad. We used the song "On Air", which seemed appropriate for this movie based on an old TV show.  Both the song and the podcast are available under the same Creative Commons license.  We recommend exploring Jamendo, there's lots of good stuff in there.  Maybe we'll pick a permanent theme some day, but for now, I'll keep mining Jamendo.
