Hongbin had started going to the gym. He was visiting crime scenes more often and generally doing more for work, so he felt like he should get himself into better shape-- not to mention that working all the time meant that he did not exercise as much as he probably should. So he had gotten himself a gym membership and he was determined to go a few times a week, even just for some light cardio and weight lifting. It was not like he was aiming to be a bodybuilder or anything.
The only bad thing about the gym was the changing rooms-- something that Hongbin had avoided very diligently since he was young. The scars on his back were a major insecurity of his, more because of what had caused them than because they were ugly or something. No one in Mount Phoenix knew about his past; or, at least, no one outside of the council, as far as he knew. And no one needed to know. All of that was in the past.
However, that day he had sweat more than usual and the change room was empty, so he risked taking a quick shower. That turned out to be fine, no problems. It was only when he was getting dressed, his torso still bare as he fastened his jeans, that he heard someone behind him. He tensed, spinning on his heel and snatching up his shirt to quickly tug it over his head-- but he could tell by the look on the stranger’s face that he had seen. “Oh, um, hi! Didn’t see you there!” He said, maybe a little too loud, his smile strained.
