———————— Normande Cows —————————
———————————————————————————
These are custom cows of the Normande breed. Normande cows are white with "lunettes" (litterally "spectacles" meaning their coat is dark around the eyes). Typically there are 3 sorts so I made one of each type and added one that is a bit of a mix.
Blonde - coat with a big blonde/light red-pied spot covering most of the body but leaving the belly white
Bringée - coat with a dark red-pied (to almost black-pied) spot covering most of the body but leaving the belly white
Caille - brown speckles on white coat
This breed dates back to the 18th century and, as the name indicates, originated from Normandy. Normande cows have been bred for both milk and meat, but it's nowadays mostly considered a dairy breed. Historically the dairy industry has been a big focus in Normandy, which is still to this day a region well-known for its milk, cream, butter and cheeses (including Camembert).
The Normande breed is still very present in Normandy but can be found in the rest of France (it once was the most common dairy breed here) and all around the world, especially in South America.
