Richard was his sister Ruth's Personal doll. For hours She'd play house with him like he was her child, talking to him softly in both English and Spanish. Richard was a good baby, didn't cry much, and ate and slept well. He was particularly good-looking, with a well-formed face and big, round, long-lashed eyes. As with his Father and brothers, His hands and feet were also large.
When Richard grew, he became very protective of his sister, Ruth. Often, their older brothers Ruben and Robert would conspire against Ruth, and they were always laughing at her expense. Richard didn't think it was funny. There were times when Ruben or Robert hit ruth for some infraction and Richard saw red and got between ruth and his brother. He would not allow Ruth to be hit.

Richard Ramirez describing his first sexual experience:
‘’It was with a neighborhood girl. She called me over, squeezed my testicles until I got a hard on, proceeded to unzip me and gave me a few strokes. I was 9, she was 18, it was the best. She later had me stick a thermometer up her ass.’’
On the day of Richard Ramirez’s arrest, Richard was escorted to the Hollenbeck Station where Richard vented his disbelief and resent.
”I want the electric chair. They should have shot me on the street. I did it, you know. You guys got me—the Night Stalker…hey, let me have a gun to play Russian roulette. I’d rather die than spend the rest of my life in prison. Can you imagine? The people caught me, not the police.” He paused for a moment, let out a laugh, and continued, ”You think I’m crazy, but you don’t know Satan. Of course I did it, so what? Give me your gun, I’ll take care of myself. You know I’m a killer, so shoot me. I deserve to die. You can see Satan on my arm.”
Richard, who was facing away from the sergeant the entire time, then looked up and saw he had been writing in his notepad.
”Are you writing down what I say?” Richard asked.
”Yes,” the sergeant replied.
After that, Richard remained silent.
“He is good looking and I loved his big hands,” said Ramirez groupie. “The thrill of danger of going up to a state penitentiary made it all worth it because to me it was like a dream come true to face one of the world’s most feared men.”
For Richard, jail was very difficult. He was a very hyperactive person who had always moved around on the outside. Now he was locked in a six-by-eight-foot cell twenty-four hours a day and he hated every second of it. Richard’s eyes sought out his girls. As he spotted them he’d nod, giving them obvious thrills. His eyes then moved to the reporters and newsmen. He snarled at then and curled his lips, not shy about showing his disdain for them. “Trematodes [worms],” he mumbled, and sat down at the defense table, long and lanky and very annoyed at being there. Carrillo and Salerno sat in their usual seats just behind Halpin.
