A friendly reunion. || Severus&Sirius (after 1st War)
Strangely, Sirius felt comforted when felt Severus’ hand over his shoulder. He has never imagined that, one day, Snape would become one of his happiest memories, a kind of portal to the joyful past he had. Sirius immediately felt guilty about his thoughts and feelings. How could he be so glad to see Severus once again after all he’s done to him? After almost killing him in an infamous, terrible joke? If Sirius could change the past… Well, honestly, he’d probably do the same. Sirius was stubborn, and even Azkaban couldn’t change it. He still would defend his best friend with sharp claws.
“Don’t be sorry. If there’s someone in this room who has apologize, it’s me.” Sirius stood up, smiling weakly at the other man, and staring at him trying to say the right words. Sirius could make peace with a former enemy, after all, this enemy happened to be one of the greatest men the world would know. Snape had all the chances to harm Harry, but according to Dumbledore, he has done the exactly opposite. Severus has taken care of Sirius’ child, and it meant the world to him. He’s been the bravest of man, Harry being his worst enemy’s kid. All because of Lily, of course. Sirius wasn’t only regretful of all the things he’s done to Snape, but also had the purest of feelings of gratitude. He wanted to say all this to him, but the vestiges that Padfoot left in him wouldn’t allow him, so Sirius tried to say everything only by the look. Not enough, but it’s what he could do. “But of course, I won’t.” He smiled again.
“Well, I really can’t get out of here. If people see me, it’s my way back to Azkaban. But you could stay for dinner if you wish.” Sirius asked him, heartily wishing Snape to accept the invitation. People would react curiously, of course. But the past had to be forgotten at some point.
Severus had never imagined that Sirius would ever apologise for anything. The fact that he did was almost terrifying to him. Then, he remembered all those times he had punished children unnecessarily. Even Harry, Sirius' godson. Sev had made sure to continue being a prick to version 2 of Potter; after all, he was exactly like James was. But with more.. Lily in him. The boy's eyes for example, were exactly like Lily's. Even some of his mannerisms reminded Snape of the redheaded gryffindor that he had loved with all his heart, yet carelessly threw his chance of any sort of friendship away. After all, school life could be horrible to some people. Especially when drastic mistakes were made - there was no way to undo history. Once something slipped out of your mouth it was out for good.
The invitation to stay with Sirius shocked Severus and he had to look at the man with wide eyes. "Well, if you insist..." he muttered. He really did want to talk to Sirius and see how he was. A lot had changed in the twelve years he had been in azkaban, and Severus didn't want him to suffer. No matter how much torture he had been put through because of the marauders, there was something in his heart that made him want to forgive them and to grow up and forget about any grudges between them.
"Well, you're more than welcome to come to my place. Nobody ever visits it." It was true, Severus was alone in his home unless one of the death eaters wanted something, and that was only around Christmas. Wormtail was sometimes there, but not often. Severus couldn't stand Peter. He was annoying and immature; two qualities Severus detested in anyone. "To get you out of here, you're going to have to become a dog." Severus sighed. It was the safest way and probably the only way that wouldn't make him too suspicious. Remus would be one of the only ones to know it wasn't an actual dog, but he wasn't here at the moment. "So, what do you say?"
