Truthfully, personal growth isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. It’s not only about rejoicing our stronger selves. Growth also involves inner work with our dark sides; those parts of ourselves that we neglect. Both light and dark, we must experience them both.

This quarantine has been “Monday, at 3 A.M.” for a bit too long.
“Intellect is to emotion as our clothes are to our bodies; we could not very well have civilized life without clothes, but we would be in a poor way if we had only clothes without bodies.” - Alfred North Whitehead, Dialogues
Happy Trans Day of Visibility
“People, who come into this life with the intention of experiencing what it is to be transgender, intended to understand authenticity. You can only find true authenticity if you first experience being inauthentic. Finding your own true identity requires an identity crisis. It is only ever the byproduct of either being void of identity or feeling as if you do not identify with your identity. You have to experience what it is to live a life where you are lying to yourself about who you are. Most people live lies. We suffer because we all live lies and do not let the real us out of the closet. Trans people teaches us. It’s a lesson the world needs. We recognize you as the teachers who need to teach us. Thank you!”
Try not to worry. Really, the universe has such a magnificent plan in store for you. Ask for what you’d like, give thanks, and then let go. Let it do its thing.

You know what? You're an individual, and that makes people nervous. And it's gonna keep making people nervous for the rest of your life.
— Louise Fitzhugh
Sometimes you just have to break it all down and build something new.

New York Nights:
One night, I was walking home from work and overheard a woman talking to her friend. She screamed, “I know myself and I’m not like that!”. No apologies for exercising that kind of self-awareness ever again.
Seriously. I can’t be the only person who understands this. It’s not that she thought it, but that she had to say it. And now that there’s conversation around people being mirrors, I’m not going to convince myself that I’m a bad person because someone acts with the intention of producing that illusion.
Everyone points fingers at the turtle for having a shell, and the whole time be a porcupine.

What bird is native to the Amazon, has a chestnut crest, and is known for its foul smell? The Hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin)! It’s the only bird known to have a form of digestion called foregut fermentation, in which bacteria help to break down the cell walls of leaves, its main source of food. This ability comes with a price, though. The bacteria release methane that the Hoatzin then belches out. The burps have a manure-like odor that inspired its other name, “stinkbird”! It’s alright to be under construction. To be figuring things out. To be searching for yourself. Often, this is what growth is. It can seem messy, confusing, and wild, but please take a moment to breathe and trust. Really, just trust this madness. It may feel uncomfortable, this feeling of growth. This uncertainty of who you truly are. But know that you will get there, when the time is right.
