Netflix: We’re gonna cancel our original quirky sitcom Santa Clarita Diet so we can keep our expensive 100 million dollar sitcom show from the 90′s people can just buy boxed sets for AND were gonna raise the prices because of it but its worth it bc we actually believed a group of people on twitter who threatened to cancel their prescriptions if it got taken off.

you know what shocks me about netflix’s decision to cancel shows like Santa Clarita Diet, One Day At a Time, and pretty much every other show after season 3, the reasoning of “bringing in new subscribers” , it goes counter to everything i was taught in business school?? it’s anywhere from 5 to 25 times more expensive to get a new customer, then it is to keep one. , studies showed that increasing customer retention rates by 5% increases profits by 25 to 95% …

and then, here comes netflix, a company, with quality (highlydebatablebutignore) content, that has loyal consumers, who pay MONTHLY to see this content, and they go and CUT the cOnTenT?

it just doesn’t make sense? it’s not like these shows weren’t raking in views, or that their viewership was declining, it was because they didn’t get enough “new subscribers”. BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THAT. cause don’t FUCK with me that netflix invested any close to the percentage of marketing funds to ODAAT or SCD as they did for the fUcKen fuck yourself with an umbrella academy and that 13 reasons to go fuck yourself show. 

so, @netflix , you need to rethink the business model you wanna be using, cause if you plan to go on the canceling rampage - so will all of your clients.

It’s been 4 days since the cancellation of Santa Clarita Diet.

Still not the best, at work right now. Constantly thinking how I’ll never to get see Sheila and Joel thrive as undead realtors. I think what sucks is that the producers and the cast are surprised just as much as the rest of us. Honestly, Netflix is a horrible corporation. They give showrunners the ability to do great things only to rip it away when it’s their best season.

Not even a month since Season 3 was released and Netflix did that. They barely promoted and they didn’t even give the show more time to possibly get more viewers. They can easily pay $100 million to keep Friends, $60 million for Beyoncé and $90 million for Bright, for they don’t want to pay for Season 4 production costs for a show that I know a lot of people loved and more people could love if Netflix gave it a chance.

That’s my rant for today. I’m sorry, I’m just really pissed. That was a damn good show.

I need a mental break. Netflix cancelled Santa Clarita Diet and I can’t process it right now.

That was a great show dammit. I was fucking depressed throughout March because of med school admissions, my jobs, and just life in general. Santa Clarita Diet got me through that, it made me laugh and smile in a way that I haven’t done in a long time, it deserved so much better. I found out about the cancellation right when I finished Avengers, I was crying during my entire car ride back. Not because of Avengers but because of this show. That wonderful cast, Victor Fresco and the creative team deserves so much better than the shit Netflix gave them. Thanks to Sheila, Joel, Abby and Eric for making me smile and laugh this past month and a half.

Out of all the things Drew Barrymore has been in Santa Clarita Diet is by far the funniest thing she has ever done as an actress. Like for fuck sake Netflix, don’t make her go back to working with Adam Sandler, who by the way has NEVER MADE A DECENT MOVIE WITH NETFLIX!
