R.I.P. Marcel Hall (1964-2021)

Working with Biz Markie in the licensing, design and production of the Biz doll was by far the greatest accomplishment of my entire toy design career and a high point in my life.

The project turned out to be very complicated and a lot of things didn’t go as planned. It was way over budget and took longer than expected but it had to be done.

Biz was a legend in every way and very friendly, super-cool, down to earth person, all the time.

He will be missed and remembered for many years to come. R.I.P. Marcel Hall.

My first full time job out of college was at a Chinese toy company in New York. We were on the 9th floor of the Toy Building on 5th Ave. It was pretty fun because we were always switching gears and designing a wide range of low price point, mass-market toys with short deadlines.
