This scene always evokes a pang in my chest because it seems to represent a longing for something frozen in time.

Matt acknowledges that Foggy is the heart of their firm, a truth that remains invaluable. Foggy isn't just the heart of Nelson and Murdock; he is also the heart of Daredevil.

Foggy is ambitious by nature; he's always made it clear that he wanted good things, and to work in a nice place. But he wanted to do it with Matt.

He never made distinctions between rich and poor. Foggy loved people, he loved to help.

He was happy to follow Matt wherever the man went, and since Matt was neglecting their firm, there was no point in staying. After all, even though he loved Matt, Foggy always had a strong sense of self-preservation.

But he could leave Matt trying to unravel that enigma alone, after everything he had been through, after Matt had left him alone several times, and after Matt had told him to go. Even so, he still helped Matt, or rather, Daredevil, using what he knew best: his knowledge of the city like the back of his hand.

Their partnership in the comics is always a delight to read; it would be incredible to see the same kind of partnership on screen as well. Furthermore, Elden and Charlie had wonderful chemistry as Nelson and Murdock.

Treating this friendship as a mere detail now is a mistake. Daredevil has always been a story about Matt and Foggy. And I'll never get over how the new Daredevil seems to want to rub it in the faces of some fans that Foggy isn't necessary for this story. That Matt only needs Karen, period.

Matt needs Foggy as an ally and as his only family, and it's a shame that this part of Daredevil's history is being erased in favor of such a silly plot.
