…. to the hit movie “Daredevil” from 2003 for surprisingly taking the lead in the “best live action adaptation of Daredevil” ranking (by me).

Sure, it’s a swiss cheese of plotholes, but still the only live adaptation to meet the bare minimum of having a living breathing Foggy Nelson.

So congratulations! 🥳

btw: think of the movie what you will but Favreau’s Foggy is a delightful mix of bitchiness, humor and loyalty and I won’t accept any slander towards him

Bonus points of course for Ben Urich starting a fire at a murder scene to reveal the weirdest calling card in the history of calling cards.

Now, I won’t mention again how Matt went to literal Hell for Foggy. For a change I will mention how Foggy broke a literal demon’s hold over Matt. (Only for a moment, mind you, but it was enough of a distraction so that Iron Fist could punch the demon out of Matt - as one does)

Foggy is strong for Matt in the moments Matt can’t be strong himself

And Foggy is smart for Matt in the moments Matt can’t be smart himself ( so most of the time)

Imagine Matt, being in the company of one of the hottest women in the Marvel universe - and he thinks of how much he loves Foggy

Damn, collecting these, I realise… you guys don’t vote for them because they’re not that platonic, huh?

COMPARATIVELY the way bruce breaks his 5 months of no-contact at the climax of BW:M/F is so funny bc when he reaches out to BABS (in batman (1940) #603), it’s very masterfully written to have him quite succinctly communicate many important things to her about the growth and maturation he has had and what his conclusions about his sense of self/identity have been BUT it is kind of direct & down-to-business (even tho it is about destroying the guise and such) WHEREAS to DICK (in batman (1940) #605) (and after apologizing), bruce is basically like do u wanna hear the full story first 😏😏😏 because you’re so special 🥺🥺🥺🥺 and my favorite 💞💞🥺🥺🤭🤭 and it’s like yeah . he is 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ and i do think it’s lovely and fitting but still kind of hilarious

Okay, I know that I am super biased. But I don’t think it’s a hot take to say that Dick is - by definition- the best Robin. Nobody else could be because he created the mantle. Bruce didn’t put out an ad “looking for partner in crimefighting”, listing required skills and traits some of which Dick had and some of which he hadn’t. Dick had everything needed to be Robin because he shaped what it means to be Robin and what it requires. Everything he was, is part of being a good Robin and everything he was not, is not part of being a good Robin. Because Robin wasn’t created as a job but as Dick’s vigilante persona. So the more someone is like Dick the better they are suited as Robin. Again, I don’t think that’s a hot take. What may be a hot take though is that this means Stephanie Brown is the second best Robin.

On this episode of Dick and Bruce Make Me Cry:

Bruce is lonely and struggling while Dick is off finding himself. Cue Dick, like some guardian angel, arriving at the nick of time to save him.

LOOK AT HIS FACE. LOOK HOW HAPPY HE IS.

And then the conversation they have after. The conversation.

Bruce asking if he’s “coming home for good” even though they’re still in the penthouse rather than the manor, because Bruce designates wherever he is to also be Dick’s home. Dick saying he needs their friendship, that he needs Bruce (emphasized in his own adventures while away, where the only thing that kept him from splattering on the pavement was the comfort of thinking of Bruce).

They saved each other. They always save each other. They will continuing saving each other. They’re going to kill me.

I really think people who bang the “Dick shouldn’t be Batman because he needs to be his own man” drum, have either not read his Batman run or at times didn’t really pay attention.

Yes, Dick struggles with imposter syndrome, feels he can’t do it, that everyone else would be better suited for this than him. He (as well as Bruce) fears he would have to be Bruce to be Batman.

But a huge part of his development here is realizing that he is, in fact, good enough and that he can be Batman without turning into Bruce. Bruce also agrees that Dick does a great job, capable of being his own man despite the cowl.

Don’t get me wrong: I love Dick as Nightwing and Bruce as Batman and since DC will always return to the status quo, Dick won’t ever permanently take the mantle.

BUT: All those posts, speculating about Bruce’s “true successor”, always dismiss Dick right away because “he has his own identity”, “he worked so hard to free himself from Bruce” and so on. But as of now, the one Bruce would choose for the mantle if he had to choose a successor or someone to temporarily stand in is still Dick.

I haven't but I have read what happened before and after and I know he has no problem continuing to be Batman or getting back into the suit anytime needed compared to when he took it the first time because Bruce died

I don't want him because his books keep getting dragged into crossovers that alter the trajectory of his story the only runs that managed to avoid it are Dixon Taylor and Watters

This bleeds onto future Batman because I don't want his branding to be tied to that city and the bat

Every time batman shows up everyone else is automatically overshadowed because he's DC's cash cow

His villains as Batman is counted as Batman's villain not his for example

These are valid *out of universe* reasons to not want Dick to be Batman again.

But the posts I am talking about are dismissing Dick as Bruce's successor with *in universe* reasons that are simply not true.

Like that wearing the cowl would "drag him into the dark" when he has proven that he can be Batman and stay himself.

Or that he doesn't want to be Batman, when - while he may say that - he crashes out when Bruce asks anyone else to do it. (I'm sure Dick's main reason to not want to be Batman is that it usually means Bruce is dead or broken and he hates the thought of that.)

I don't want Bruce to retire anytime soon and give up being Batman permanently. So my post is not a call to make Dick Batman again.

I just don't like people ruling him out as the heir of the cowl because imo you can't do that without belittling the times that he did don the cowl and did it well.

"Cass is the favorite child and Bruce is the best dad to her" I genuinely need everyone to know that Bruce's favorite child is canonically Dick and his best performance as a father was objectively with Jason

It's not a particularly hard contest, either. There's so many panels implying or outright stating Dick is the favorite, and in every continuity Jason recieved Bruce's best and most consistent parenting efforts during the three years he lived with Bruce prior to dying. The Batfam's relationships with Bruce and with each other have always been fraught and complicated, and Bruce and Cassandra's relationship is no different
