okay, this happened to me just now, the scam i mean, not the tumblr update. anyway, heres how it might look like since i didnt really clock it
they will give you a discord id and a request number for tumblr support. in the porfile of the discord account, they will have a link to an actual tumblr workers linkedin account
you might notice that the username is different now. that is because its a different account. ive been redirected after the "message limit has been reached"
the previous account acting as support now looks like this. it appeared to look like the other account above to look official. despite it being "24/7", it doesnt seem very 24/7 if they keep changing accounts and having a message limit.
i know not everyone will be fooled by it, but im inexperienced and i waas fooled by it, so i want to show other people who might be fooled by this how it might look. please remember that things might look different, this is just one way it could happen
this message made me think its an actual report, it looked convincing to me.
anyway, thankfully i didnt give any doxable info about me aside from my country. to anyone whos unsure, please be careful. try not to share any personal details. please dont share your credit history cause they asked that from me to "confirm i didnt do anything illegal".
i didnt realize it at the time, but its weird how i need the other person to give me instructions in order to save my account, and theres a time limit of 12 hours for it. you could easily get someones account removed by mass reporting them and not telling them anything if thats how it worked
i didnt realize how tumblr support being discord accounts id have to shuffle through is a weird way to do things. that would just make it difficult to get support on these kinds of problems and is also very inneficient
i didnt realize i was purely going through things, being led by some stranger who told me they accidentally reported my account. i shouldve checked if the support account theyre telling me is linked somewhere else.
i didnt realize how suspicious the situation was, i didnt realize i didnt double check the accounts, i didnt realizethat this could be a scam, i didnt realize these things so i would assume other people might not realize it either. please be careful when it comes to these things. suspect the person if you encounter a similar situation, ask yourselves "if this is real, would the process of resolving this actually look like this?" if youre unsure but want to go with it just in case, keep your answers short and ask them questions. dont be afraid to ask your friends so it wouldnt just be you stucck in your headspace, you can get opinions of other people who could see things outside of your current perspective
