my tolerance for secondhand embarrassment is so low that when matt woke up in hospital post-shooting and said “karen??” as heather rushed to his side, i had to pause it and take a lap of my room to calm down

i am lightly convinced karen is gonna end up still being down as his power of attorney or medical proxy or something otherwise insane. matt is absolutely the type to not have put foggy down bc it would stress him out too much and make him ill if something happened to him and he had to do all the paperwork instead of sitting vigil at his side, but karen is analytical in a crisis and also has the desperately needs to DO something immediately gene. he would put her down as a medical proxy exclusively to prevent her personally going out and trying to get retribution for whatever happened to him herself

matt almost successfully distracting his gf from his dd injuries with sex and then immediately blowing his relationship up the morning after is SO fucking funny. the way she is essentially saying “no matter what you’re always at least partially missing your life with your friends. foggy………….. and karen” n his dumbass is literally like “YEAH exactly.” this boy has real life rocks for brains he is SO lucky he’s a great lay

after perusing set pics, i would like s2 of daredevil: born again to include fugitive matt and karen being long-term undercover as a couple in some tiny shitty studio apartment. crucially, for at least half of the plot they are in no way shape or form together and r barely on speaking terms. the drama.

while i’d personally hate both, i DO think killing off foggy instead of karen would b an insane narrative mirror to the comics. foggy is matt’s conscience, he stops him going too far. karen has always been willing to go even further than matt. they’d pull eachother to extremes. like, if they’re mixing waid in with soule, but they replace foggys cancer arc with him getting got by bullseye instead of karen, bc her death has already been subverted, but fate still demands a life? they’d both go mad. n that’s BEFORE u have frank there dragging them both even further. like no i do not want it but i do kind of want to write a fic of it. want to marinate in the implications of it. they’d both totally lose their minds. they’d tear each other apart. they’d be the only thing holding each other up. then theres the frank castle of it all.

i’m hearing we r in for some angst involving matt hearing (& not hearing) heartbeats in daredevil: born again ep1. so, if u would like some slice of life nelson, murdock, and page which turns into angst in that same vein before the show airs, here is something i wrote a couple years back
