my fave bit of black dog folklore is that in some folklore there is a belief that the first person buried in a cemetery stays there and doesn’t cross over and helps other spirits move on and protects them from evil spirits, now naturally people want to avoid this fate for their loved ones and themselves so they would sometimes bury a dog first and it would return in the shape of a big black dog and protect the newly dead from evil spirits and occasionally the living as well
this kind of spirit is called a church grim
You mean it’s called a good doggie.
You know that part in movies where the main character turns on their car radio and the song that’s playing slowly fades in and becomes the movies background music? I like that
I love the opposite, where the background music is seemingly just background music until the cut to someone turning off the radio and the music abruptly cuts off.
I thoroughly enjoy both.
Gymnastics has come a long compared to that old footage, but this difference is particularly significant for black girls! Because they have never taken seriously our abilities! Just because the color of our skin is not what they want to see!
Simone Biles’s fantastic performance has been covered by many news outlets all these years! Now we can see the real difference!

It’s like a metaphor of what millenials have to do to get jobs vs baby boomers lol

“Velvet Underground first appearance” (x)
Reminder that Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman is confirmed bisexual by DC. Not a lesbian, certainly not straight, but bisexual and she’s one of only a few bisexual characters who’s sexuality isn’t used for laughs or as a way to further sexualize her. So like, let us have that??
me: eh i’m not sure about this pirate game hot lady pirate: *appears* me, pulling a pirate hat out of my ass: Scissor Me Timbers
Its “shiver me timbers”…. 😒😒😒

The infamous scene where Marlene Dietrich kisses another woman - which was added to the script at Dietrich’s suggestion - was saved from being cut by the censors by Dietrich herself. She came up with the idea of taking a flower from the woman before kissing her and then giving the flower to Gary Cooper, explaining that if the censors cut the kiss the appearance of the flower would make no sense.
This was not the only thing that was controversial at the time of release (1930). She also wore a tuxedo designed for a man in this scene.
breaking news: emerald fennell confirmed to be powered by crushed dreams, glitter, and saxophone solos
“For you, It’s a harvest festival parcel, we need to build you up and get you back to work” - “You have given me enough. One of the nuns came, big woman.” An inexhaustible source of great Call the midwife scenes 28/?
