“Really? You’re just going to put it all out on the table for me like that?” Nina questioned the dark haired boy next to her. A part of her was actually interested in hearing his stories. Mostly because Dani had filled her in on the situation with the Carmichael’s, she was interested to see if Nick would lie to her. “Yes, unfortunately that someone is me.” Behind all the fun and joking between them Nina was actually sincere with her comment, she even had Dani on alert just incase Nick’s name ever came in for being arrested. She knew his family was a mess and he did need someone truly on his side. “But your welcome.” She followed up with a slight grin. “It is so flat. I don’t have to touch it to prove it. Trust me those pants you always wear prove there is nothing there.” Tilting her head towards him with a smirk. “Must be because you surely haven’t stopped trying yet.” Rolling her eyes at his comments before following him out to the car. “I wanna say a Ferrari, but I’ll guess a Porsche.” Nina honestly wasn’t too sure what Nick’s taste in car’s was, but if it went by his taste of women it was probably something fast. As the reality of getting in a car with him set in she stopped him mid conversation and grabbed his arm lightly. “I know I probably am in the wrong to ask this, but are you okay to drive?” It came out way more awkward than Nina meant it to, she was pretty sure she’d cringed while asking it. Just the fact he’d been drunk so many times when they’d been together weighed heavy on her mind and she didn’t want him getting behind the wheel putting both of them at risk.
“Yup. Any questions about my police records will be answered with honesty. Off the records, of course.” He answers back easily. Something inside him told him he could trust her enough to share the same tales he told over dinner with the family. A risk worth taking.
“Oh, don’t act like you don’t enjoying telling me ‘told you so’ when you have to save my sexy ass.” his shoulder bumps hers gently as he grins at Nina playfully. “Your supposed to be my friend and you waited this long to tell me my pants don’t compliment my perky ass.” His hand finds its way to his chest to exaggerate his fake offense. “I’m not one to give up so you shouldn’t be surprised.” He couldn’t help himself after all. The words to describe them escaped him.
“Damn. You are good.” Nick comments as he pulls out the keys to his Porsche. “The Ferrari’s at home.” He pauses when the female grabs his arm. Her grip was gentle but firm. The words that leave her mouth make him feel cold for a second. He looks down at the ground for a second as he realizes it’s his own fault for her feeling the need to ask that. She wasn’t the first to ask this fairly common question. He looks up at her and offers a grin. “I am, really. But. I wouldn’t mind taking a break driving.” he offers, holding out the keys. He’d never let anyone else take his car out before. There were arguments between siblings because of a joy ride once. That hadn’t been pretty. Though Nina. He didn’t want to make her uncomfortable. Not to mention he doubted the female ever had the chance to drive a car like this. “And only if you know how to drive. Because thats kind of important.” He jokes with a slight tone of seriousness.
