also regarding the backstory thing, the one in the books is just a story about one of aleksander’s many adventures in his life on the run, the one they showed in the show was about how the fold was created, it would’ve made no sense to show the demon in the wood one because it was irrelevant to the plot

and what’s wrong with showing the darkling with a bit of humanity, it doesn’t hurt anyone

but they love and worship the Meadow™ scene which was way too overplayed and boring af 😐

I know people love the scene where the Darkling tells Alina his RL name in the books but to me it's awlays been Barfy manipulating the reader to get attached to the character(especially considering he appears in liek 5 scenes) and maybe think for like second that there's a possibility for him redeeming himself before turning him mor eevil and then killing him off then she can also pat ehrself thatb she created a ''complex villain''in which Alina could see the humnity in or whatever.

Honestly, the way this fandom praising her for doing the bare minimum for his character, such as giving him a name in the very last minute... How naïve can you be, sometimes? She didn’t do shit, do you realise that? She kept without humanity, without a coherent backstory for two books and gave you his name in a baiting shippy moment before that same person who he apparently trusted so much put him down like an animal, while comparing him to an animal. 

And that short story that they praise so much... What after he is dead, too? Why does it matter? Or does the fandom loves it because they want to pretend that he is complex as cartoonishly evil as LB wrote him? 

Oh, how great of her. She gave him a name, the bare minimum to give to a character. Meanwhile, she gave her a boogeyman title to identify him with and like... Ten moments of humanity and little to no page time and zero relationships with anyone but his mother and Alina. I’m dying, what an effort.

Baghra telling alina about aleks creating the fold and conveniently leaving out the part that they were being hunted and aleks just saw the girl he loved being killed AND that it was at least partially unintended AND that she had wanted him to not even care about the other grisha lol

She also conveniently left out the bit that she tried to get mal killed (I forget at this point whether she knew mal had escaped or didn't but either way LOL)

Is the audience supposed to trust this old lady who we saw an episode back being cold and heartless AND not giving a shit about other grisha and just saving her own skin? And the same lady just tried to get the "love interest" killed but leaves that fact out? Yes, yes we are. No twist here it's exactly that.

She is such a fucking liar? Like? I don’t think Aleksander twisted more facts in the entire series that she did in that scene? She really paints herself as the victim, as if she gives a fucking shit about other people, talking about the women and children? You didn’t care about the women and children in the sanctuary when you told Aleksander to run, arsehole!

This show has such multiple personality, I wear! I am supposed to believe this shady, uncaring arsehole is the moral woman rescuing Alina?

Also, next season is going to be such a nightmare and the more I read this trash book, the more I dread how Aleksander is going to be such a cardboard villain and all the points he had in this season are going to be ignored. The Darkling in the book formed a fucking alliance with the Fjerdans? What? What? 

How the fuck is Ben going to save that? God, I hope they kill him fucking mild season because this would be so fucking OOC for Show!Aleksander that it would be just ridiculous to watch.

The more I’m thinking about the plot and characters, the more frustrated I am. I’ve decided the only trustworthy person is Aleks. Sure he could be manipulating me but if it helps the Grisha and Ravka I’m fine with it. He rarely lies but instead omits things or plays with words in a way that’s not technically lying.

If I had to pick who I’d follow in the grishaverse, It’d be Aleks because I know he knows what he’s doing and has a solid goal with motives that actually make sense. Even he manipulates me, at the end it’s for the better. And yeah I agree, he doesn’t lie but he doesn’t tell the whole truth. I completely understand that because in a way I’m sorta like him.
