My 3rd Mother's Day

Today marks my third Mother's Day. If you ask any parent, being one isn't the easiest thing in the world. It's double the work when you're a single parent, like myself. I've always been a daddy's girl. I guess this is because I always seem to bump heads with my mother in some ways. But throughout the years, I've noticed it's always the mothers that carry the burdens in the family (unless there's no mom in the picture). Nevertheless, it's always mom's home cooked meals that beats others, it's always mom's warm comfort & care provided to us when we're sick or hurt, and it's of course the unconditional love they give us no matter how difficult we can be. And it was because of my mother's love that inspire me to be a great mother to my son. 3 years ago, I spent my Mother's Day 4 months pregnant, without the father of my child showering me with gifts or flowers. It was hard. I remember walking through the mall on Mother's Day, seeing families together, mommy wives and girlfriends being showered with gifts, flowers and love given by the father of their children. Although a very beautiful sight, I was envious. When I arrived home that day, I remember crying to myself. I wanted to have that feeling of love from a man. I wanted a family like theirs. I rubbed my tummy that day & spoke to my unborn child. With tears coming out of my eyes, I promised him that I would always be there for him no matter what. I promised him that I'd never leave his side. I promised him that I'm going to get my degree and work hard so I could provide him a better future. And I promised him that I'd give him unconditional love. 3 years of motherhood. My son is now talking, running around, and even puts a blanket over me when we are about to sleep. Although we're not a traditional family, my son and I are family. From the special bond we shared together during pregnancy to the times we watch Disney movies together, I know we have each other. 3 years of bitter-sweet memories. Sometimes I still cry from the frustrations of being a single parent, but if it's anything I have learned as a mother, it's unconditional love & strength. No matter the struggles I go through myself, I always remember to push through & stay strong for my little man. Happy Mother's Day to the woman who raised me & raised me to be a great mother, my very own mother. And Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

I apologize to the guys out there who got offended by my post on Facebook last night. However, I did state it was my feelings then and there. I was being very reflective on my experiences with men. However, to think about things, we women get the rough end and I believe SOME guys don't give enough respect to women. It's true about us women getting the rough end. We have to deal with menstruations & the problems and grossness about it when men don't. We get "things" inserted into our "thing" down there during every doctor exam starting at the age of about 18, versus men who don't need to get prostate exams till the age of, what, 40? When we get married, we take the surname of the guy and our children get them as well. We women go thru the emotional and physical changes during pregnancy. We go thru the pain that occurs during labor. We have to deal with post pregnancy problems (weight gain, stretch marks, belly flap, changes in breast due to breast feeding) while the man's body remains the same. If a woman cheats, she is called a slut and frowned upon. But if a man cheats, he's not called a slut. Rather he's the "hot shot" that can get any girl. Women in some occupations still get paid less than a man who is in the same occupation. Women go thru a lot more than you men think. And sometimes, the reason why girls & women are "bitches" is because they refuse to have men pointing at them to be a figure of ridicule. Or simply due to some men not giving them any respect like they should be treated with, they have guarded their hearts with barb wires, electrical fences, alligator filled moats, you name it. Bottom line to you guys: Treat the female race with respect. If you have a lady, protect her like your daughter, respect her like your mother, and love her like a wife. Because when it's time to deal with blood, poop or vomit, it's the girl who never faints.

Cuz the only pictures of us is when I was pregnant 😆. Here's the story behind this. It was only about 5-6 years ago that I knew about him. It was during MySpace days. I remember my dad randomly asking me to search up a "Sean Menor". So I did and found him. I asked my dad if this was a relative and my dad said it's my brother. I soon messaged him and I typed "hey! I think you're my brother". In just a few minutes I got a reply saying, "really?! What's your dad's name". Come to find out I said our dad's name and total excitement just entered our systems. My brother was all the way in Florida & me, all the way in Hawaii of course. He was planning a trip to Hawaii the year after we've met. This would be the first time I would meet him and the first time my brother would see our dad. We come to a year later. He finally arrived in Hawaii and was staying at his cousin's house in Makakilo. Since we've been keeping in touch over the Internet and through texting, he texted me that he finally arrived. That was the day I finally met my brother. My father and I drove to Makakilo, finding my brother's cousin's house. We pulled into the driveway, I called him saying we were there. Finally before my eyes and my father's eyes was my brother.
