7 Mistakes That Get Udyam Applications Rejected in 2026
The Udyam portal doesn't tell you why it stalls — it just throws an error. These seven mistakes are behind most of them:
OTP sent to a dead number — update your Aadhaar-linked mobile first, or the one-time password never arrives.
PAN–Aadhaar name mismatch — one character of difference (a middle name, "Md" vs "Mohammed") fails validation.
Wrong organisation type — e.g. a partnership filed on a partner's personal PAN instead of the firm PAN.
Guessing the NIC code — wrong codes don't block the certificate, they block the benefits, because banks check activity codes for MSME credit like CGTMSE.
Skipping GSTIN when you have one — it's mandatory and cross-verified on the portal.
Investment/turnover in the wrong bracket — declare figures consistent with your ITR.
Typos you only notice after the certificate arrives — fixable through the portal, or with an assisted Udyam certificate correction.
A full walk-through of the process, documents and eligibility is in this MSME registration guide. Rejections aren't penalised and there's no cooling-off period — but every retry costs you days.
