Nolan saw an opportunity to finally get the tricks used for The Impossible. 😄
"Hahaha, I'm only bringing up Charlie Kirk's death because it is a JOKE to me. I think it's FUNNY. That's why I'm still malding about him almost a year after his murder."
Well, I guess if he's got you this upset he must be on to something, right? Isn't that what they say? Regardless, I'm curious: would you be holding this same energy if Charlie were a woman? Even one you disagree with? Or is there a permissibility to (often brutal) violence against men that you simultaneously refuse to acknowledge while also cheekily playing into?
Just some food for though, "pal".

What do you think of the criticism of the "i am nobody " scene being cut from the movie? Personally while I was expecting it it seems completely logical to cut it since Nolan removed the Gods all together. The "i am nobody" bit served as a plot point because Odysseus tried to trick Poseidon and failed but what sense would it make in the movie when there is no Poseidon?
Yeah idk why people get so stuck in specific bits. The odyssey is a 24 episode long poem, you can be dissecting it for years, you can’t just not cut stuff in an adaptation, and while it’s a cool exchange, it doesn’t detract from this adaptation.
Also fwiw I always expected Nolan to cut the gods, which I didn’t necessarily love because it’s a great insight on the underlying philosophy of Ancient Greece, but in the end what he did was incredible instead. He essentially adapted the odyssey firmly from Odysseus’ and the common peoples’ pov, so the gods were what they also manifested as for the Ancient Greek people, be it the elements or a wise beggar or a girl that was monstrously killed. And honestly that more than anything shows he actually got the poem, much more than keeping specific exchanges or scenes.
Cant wait to see it now. Voy manana!
