It’s actually killing me how canonically kind and sensitive Giyuu is.

He stitched the haori’s of his two loved ones together and wore it for years. He remembered Murata’s name after all this time. He felt so strongly about Sabito’s death he had to repress his feelings entirely to function again. He gave two siblings a chance to try to find a way to cure becoming a demon despite his duty to do otherwise. In the manga he helped Mitsuri up when Tengen accidentally knocked her over at the first pillar meeting we see. He wanted to try and befriend Sanemi by giving him his favorite snack.

The fact that he went from smiling so wide and tearing up over his friend slapping him to showing hardly any emotions at all–just so he wouldn’t succumb to the despair and hopelessness of his grief, just so he could keep living–it’s so heartbreaking.

This Superman is such a sweetie. He’s kind to the robots. He makes his girlfriend breakfast for dinner. He pretends he doesn’t care what social media thinks of him but gets genuinely upset over juvenile name calling. He tortured a despot with a cactus but the spines “weren’t that big.” He tries to capture the giant monster alive. He loves people and does his best to help them and he’s not an idiot he knows people are complicated, but he’s genuinely heartbroken when they turn on him. The idea of him having a harem is utterly ridiculous. He loses it over a pain-in-the-ass dog. He makes fun of the despot for pissing his pants. He wept at seeing an innocent man murdered. His open devastation over Mali’s murder is part of what brings Metamorpho to take the risk of helping him. He saves that weird baby. He saves a squirrel. He not only would not fuck his clone, he killed him. He makes that shithead Lex cry. His flirting with Lois is so swagless and unsubtle that her boss immediately clocks that they’re together. He loves his parents. He’s good all the way down, not because he was born that way but because he chooses to be.

i wish mistborn was more popular bc i think kelsier is primo tumblr bait. he's a smartass bastard con artist who hired a little freak teenage girl for a heist and immediately swerved into being her adoptive dad. his immediate first instinct upon meeting a god was a solid right hook and he has repeated this at least twice more. he refuses to stop fucking up everyone elses plans and will die if he goes more than 12 hours without making a Devious Plot of some sort. hes started at least three religions/cults that revere him.

i also can't stop thinking about how this show is an ode to mothers but it's also a reflection of the role of a father and the extent they go to, to provide for their families which can sometimes be forgotten because they aren't home as much and when they are they might be too tired to engage, but there's beauty in the little things they do (as I am sure we will see more of in vol. 2) and there's love in their sacrifice and daily toiling, their hard work which leaves them aged, weak, ailing and while the drama doesn't spell this out unlike the sacrifice of the mother, the sacrifice of the father lingers around as it would in reality. oh this little green forest family.
