Sephiroth almost could not believe what he was seeing, and that the other he had sought for so long was approaching him. It was of his own free will, as well, he noted. There wasn’t any need of him having to use force, and make him come to him through their connection to one another. This was the moment he had been waiting, had been dreaming of. Together, they would change everything, and he could not have been more excited. To feel that hand in his, the angel let the moment stay in his mind for a millennia of time, and he would never forget.
Of course nothing could last forever, as much as he would want it to, and this fantasy that was a reality in his palms, was quickly turning to dust. He had been foolish to believe this was anything more than a trick, and those emerald eyes widened once the trap had been so cleverly set. The angel’s power swelled, trying to repel the magical properties that were making all of his limbs stiffen. There was pain with every motion he took, and his sharp gaze switched between each individual vermin that decided to make their attacks against him. He had no time to counter with an attack of his own, and once the sensation on his limbs was complete, he found himself being forced to his knees.
Those piercing eyes were glaring ahead, and pointed directly at the blonde. His blade had fallen from his grip, resting besides his rigid arms, and he was still reeling from the betrayal. “So… you had to resort to this? Hmh…” He sounded almost proud over their endeavors. This clearly had to have taken them a long while to conjure up a plan as thorough as this was. It didn’t matter, in the end. This was a foolish game of theirs.
His gaze was now fixed and focused on their golden-haired leader. And though he were bound and kneeling, forcibly, the angel still had a trick of his own up his sleeve. Those cat-like eyes glowed brighter, and his smirk widened as he addressed the boy. “Cloud…” The influence of their connection, he was letting it ring through the other’s skull now. “…You will release me, my dear puppet.” He echoed both into the other’s mind, and verbally so that the rest could hear. So that they would see how little control their leader had over anything, especially himself.

Cloud could hear the other speaking, vaguely understanding, but there was so much happening--too much for him to care what snide words might be leaving Sephiroth’s mouth. It wasn’t until a searing pain invaded his skull, one he had felt too many times before, that he heard what the man was saying. His hands flew to his scalp, staggering forward to one knee as he tried to process the way his heart seemed to be pounding out of his chest. Tifa and Barrett rushed to his side, while Aerith did her best to focus only on completing the arduous ritual she’d been perfecting for so long.
“No....I won’t...” He said, through gritted teeth. “I’m not.” He snarled, not able to say much more, but Cloud was sure the intent was clear enough. Barrett held him back easily enough, and it was Tifa who marched forward, flinging foth a blizzara spell at the angel’s face. She didn’t care if it did damage, or froze his mouth shut. If it was a distraction it could only help them.
