@muddystudy
here’s my current dorm setup !!✨ i’m on the fourth floor and it feels like i’m living in a hotel it’s so nice !! midterms have been absolutely killing me and my roommate turned out to be really mean but she’s gone now so i have a massive room to myself :P sorry for the infrequent postings but bio and chem are out to get me and monopolize all of my time :( i’ve been spending a lot of time out of my dorm to study in my college’s bookstore or in the library and it’s been a nice change of pace :) i got a C on my first chem midterm which was better than i was expecting but my ex-gifted kid expectations are struggling to be okay with it💕
i can kind of feel my mental health degrading but i’m trying to make more time for my friends instead of doing work all day! i hope all of you are taking care of yourselves and if u need to talk about anything feel free to message me !! i’m always down to chat/vent❤️
p.s if y’all have any study tips for chem pls send them i am begging u
yesterday was such a good day !! i spent the day studying outside with my friend hanna and it felt like fall outside🥺 also we went and got pumpkin spice lattes from starbucks and i got a pumpkin muffin that was absolutely bomb.
i bought quite a few new plants over quarantine but i love them so much💕🌱
bio and chem are def a lot to keep up with (especially their labs) but so far i think i’m managing it pretty well :) we had our first bio quiz yesterday and i got a pretty good grade so i’m hoping it stays that way. also my chem prof is so nice he starts out all of his lectures doing karaoke and talks to his dog and cat all the time🥺
hello :3
alrighty you guys it’s been a while since i’ve posted so i’m just gonna update you guys.
many things have happened since the end of last year. i finished the end of the semester with good grades and felt really good about my academic career. over quarantine/summer i started to feel really unsure about the path i was pursuing but i kinda felt too scared to change it because i had no clue what else i would do.
before my senior year of high school i wanted to be a doctor, i loved science and i wanted to pursue it as my career. however, my senior year science class was kinda fucked from the start because the only ap science teacher we had went to jail. he was replaced by a different bio teacher that only taught general bio and so the entire class was expected to pass the ap bio test with only general bio level knowledge. the experience was so stressful and i was so frustrated with my inability to understand the subject that it turned me away from pursuing bio and science completely.
over break i started really thinking about how i let that one experience change my whole future and i wanted to see if maybe i could try and pursue it again. i didn’t want to write off an entire field of study just because of one bad teacher.
i’m still very interested in psychology, and i kind of want to go to med school to become a psychiatrist, so i’m changing my major to neuroscience.
i decided that this year i was just going to throw myself into the major requirements because i’ve already missed a year. the courses i’m taking this year are:
—intro biology
—intro chemistry
—elementary statistics
—community psych
—neuroscience lab
i was terrified to start chemistry and bio because i was scared it was going to be just as hard as before to understand the concepts and connect them, but so far i actually really love it. in fact, i’m very glad that i’m taking these classes because i don’t think i would have realized how much i like learning about this stuff. i really enjoy bio and chem because the text is kind of like a puzzle that you have to put together and make sense of, which i feel like wasn’t really involved in the classes i had taken previously. i feel as if a lot of my old classes were more philosophical and abstract while bio and chem are more concrete? if that makes sense? i really just think it fits me more.
this could all be redundant in a few months if i come to a point where none of the subject matter makes sense anymore and i despise everything, but for now i’m really enjoying it and i’m excited to see where this all leads.
i move in to my dorm next friday with my new roommate and i’m super excited to see my friends again (socially distance of course). i’m also planning on rushing this fall!
i’m going to start posting again soon because my room has changed so much! in my boredom during quarantine i couldn’t help but buy a bunch of plants and rearrange my bookshelf a few times.
ily <333
TL;DR --> i’m now a neuroscience major because i don’t want to let my shitty high school science teachers define how i view the field; also i really like bio and chem :)
hey! this might sound rly weird but do u have any advice for finding like a sort of community on studyblr? it’s pretty isolating here :( but i’m sure that’s just me
it’s def not just you !! the studyblr community is full of diverse aesthetics and loves to pitch new methods for managing their studies. personally, i ghosted through studyblr for a few years before actually creating one and by then i knew what kind of study strategies worked best for me because i had gone through and experimented with the different ideas i saw.
i think the best way to approach studyblr is to see it as a community of people dedicated to helping each other achieve their academic and career goals. if you have questions, i recommend reaching out to studyblrs you like. for me personally, i love having convos with my followers.
it can feel sort of isolating sometimes because you may feel as if you’re unable to relate to how people study or what they post, but know that everyone studies differently and not every method works for every person. it’s all about finding out what study methods work best for you.
if i misunderstood your question or u have more questions just send me a message and we can have a chat :)💕✨
What are you planning on doing with your psych degree?
if i do continue to pursue a career in psychology, i’m considering either going into industrial organizational psychology or perhaps clinical psychology. i’ve heard that it’s difficult to thrive in that field unless you have a master’s degree or higher, which may make it financially difficult for me to pursue. lately i’ve been questioning whether psychology is the academic path i really want to take, so i’ve been trying to enroll in classes that are interesting to me but not related to psychology. i’m hoping that i will figure out the field i’m passionate about along the way.
“is this moment radicalizing you?”
while i’m here, and still somehow have followers on this website, i thought it would be useful to repost an activism resource masterpost i saw on twitter a few days ago. it looks like the OP (@thebryreed) set her account to private, but i saved the links and figured they would be useful reading & listening, given everything that’s going on right now.

Here are just a few book recommendations (there are so much more out there), include both non-fiction and fiction about racism and challenges that black people face throughout their lifetimes.

this pride month, please please please do not let the black lives matter movement go ignored. the lgbtq movement owes so much to black members of our community. we are not free until all of us are.
what is happening now is change in action. if you care about activism, and you should, you know that blm deserves to be seen, their voices to be heard.
pride matters, and we should still celebrate, still fight, still demand our place in the world. but black and indigenous people need our support right now. cops are not our friends. oppression is never okay. privilege is never comfortable. if you are white or non-black, refuse to let support for blm die down.
this pride, let’s fight for each other. demand spaces for lgbtq people of colour. let their voices be heard. listen.
you can help.
To everyone who is still studying despite the pandemic, I’m so fucking proud of you.
To everyone who isn’t studying because, well, we are in the midst of a pandemic and it’s hard to focus, it’s okay.
Studying or coping, either way, I’m so proud of you and keep going.
Love, Ax
Just found your blog! Is there a master post for study tips or anything of the sort??
hi !!❤️💕 i personally have not created a study tips masterpost bc i am a relatively new study blog and i hadn’t even though of doing that yet! thank u for suggesting this though, i will probs make one soon now that you have put the idea in my head !!🥰
Do you have any tips on getting work done during quarantine ? I have days when I’m super productive and then some days not at all :( do you know how I can stay motivated?
sorry this is such a late response, hopefully it will still come in handy!! i struggled with this exact same thing and would go days without doing anything at all (hence the late response (sorry!)). i rewatched every single marvel movie in chronological order to procrastinate on my final timeline project! the only thing that really kept me motivated was starting to do a little each day. before quarantine, i would often be so swamped with other work and things to do during the week that i would save my final projects for the last minute and have a marathon work session to finish them. during quarantine, i tried a different approach and once my deadlines really started to get close to me, i started working a little bit on each project every day so that if i did find myself procrastinating again before the due date, i would at least have something to work with. i also found that treating myself (whether it be long netflix breaks or a snack break) really boosted my morale.
the biggest tip i have for working during quarantine is reaching out to your teachers if you are struggling to keep up with your work. i was wary about doing this bc i thought that the problems i was having wouldn’t be considered important enough to grant me some leeway on my assignments. i found that most of my teachers were being much more accommodating than usual, so if your mental health is getting in the way of you completing your assignments on time (this includes not being able to stop procrastinating or being unable to focus) reach out to your teacher and be honest about what is stopping you from doing your best work. hopefully this trend of teacher forgiveness is found at all colleges during this time, but if not, just do the best that you can. even if the best you can do is not doing that assignment at all, just be proud of yourself for surviving through a pandemic!! nobody could have foreseen that this crazy year was going to happen and everybody copes with different circumstances in their own ways. be forgiving towards yourself❤️💕
hello💕 sorry it’s been a while, exam season got a bit crazy but i’ve passed all of my classes and am very happy with my final grades! i got an A on my super stressful timeline project so it made the countless hours i spent working on it feel somewhat worth it!! i wanted to thank all of my followers for sticking by me and supporting me i love all of you guys so much🥺💕❤️ always feel free to ask me questions or message me just to talk abt anything bc i love talking to u guys! the pics above are sort of a photo dump of some happy times i’ve had since exams have been over (including a pic of my dog mabel and some pics from a (socially distanced) hike i went on with my friend). again, thank u guys so much for the support and for 5k followers i rly appreciate u guys❤️💕✨

I finally finished my timeline about the history of goggles!! I would be super appreciative if a few people could click through my timeline and let me know if the images are showing up for everyone and that it’s actually functioning!! I have been working on this project all semester and put way too much time into it so I want to make sure that when I submit it, it actually works!!💕❤️
