Some things are relative, relative in the terms of opinion and preferences. Early parenthood is one of those things that we cannot map out a specific cut-line age or period to associate them with, since some communities and person(s) will prefer the role of parenting from a low age of 13 years of age, while others will take to parenting at the age 30 or above that,
For some it comes as a big misfortune e.g. rape.
It goes beyond every common sense to rule out some extremes, especially when it comes to early pregnancy.
A stage in life should not destroy a previous or an ongoing process, for example a child in her adolescent cannot become a successful parent since they have not yet matured physically, mentally or emotion wise.
The determination of parent to be is my favourite part. Most will accumulate wealth and other necessary materials and services for their children- this can be viewed as planning. To me this is key. This will ensure that the kid will have a sustainable bring-up. So what do I consider as vital/important in the bringing up of a child:
A health security (not necessarily an insurance cover).
Accessible health services.
Clean water and general sanitation
Other needs are important but not vital.
The ability for one to provide these needs provides the basis for good parenting. All other factors can be worked on, for instance the society (on how it views you to its impact on the child).
My opinion of the right age/time for parenting is when the parent to be is no longer dependent on their guardians or parent, and when they can be able to provide for their own off springs continuously without depletion or their oppression.
This period also varies depending on many issues like our previous background and the determination of the parent to be. When I talk of previous background I mean the impact of the guardian/parent on the parent to be. This might be in terms of social status, finances to other material wealth.
Worth noting is that I don’t promote early parenting, but at the same time I don’t condemn it. So if the shoe fits…..
