“Malfoy’s missing? Huh. Someone’s got to be dealing with his annoying arse.”
“How terrible, someone else missing. Who knew that Malfoy would be the one?”

“Malfoy’s missing? Huh. Someone’s got to be dealing with his annoying arse.”
“How terrible, someone else missing. Who knew that Malfoy would be the one?”
“I picture you having a really nice wedding. Probably a big gown and the whole shebang.”
“You, Lily and Doe will be my bridesmaids, of course. I wouldn’t have anyone else. Purple and white scheme with hints of... blue? But the nice kind of blue. Soft. As well as the purple - - lilac. Man, I wish I was getting married.”
“It’s fine, Mare. Don’t worry about it.”
“Are you sure? I know what it’s like, being targeted and such. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
“Weddings are so precious - - I can’t wait to get married one day. It’ll be perfect.”
“I am not a mudblood slag… I…” Lily couldn’t believe that someone had spoken to her like that, and she let out a shaky breath, trying to remain calm, and stop herself from getting upset. “Leave me alone.”
Mary looked up and frowned, her eyes finding Lily. “Who the hell said that?”
“Bloody hell, I need a drink after that.” Sirius shoved the door open to the Leaky Cauldron and stepped inside.
Wordlessly, Mary handed him a drink. “Your wish is my command,” she murmured quietly, a small smile on her lips. “What happened?”
“All I’ve heard is people complain about the Ball. But what I want to know is, what made you not like it?”
“I thought it was fun.”
“I don’t care who it is or if I can’t see, I am not kissing anyone.”
“Somebody’s sour about that.”
Lily’ eyes widened as Mary walked into her hospital room, and she just let out a laugh as she looked over the amount of balloons in her hand. “How in the world did you get that grump of a nurse to allow you to let anything fun in here?”
“Well, what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her, will it?” Mary grinned, letting go of the balloons and watching as they floated into position; casually around the room. Magic was wonderful. She set aside the cake and turned to her best friend. “It was a bitch to sneak all this past her, but I am a super secret ninja. I can handle it.”
“So, yeah, I broke up with Remus.”
“What? Why? You two were so cute.”
“I can’t believe I have to spend my birthday in hospital.”
“Well I am just going to have to make it up to you in here, aren’t I? I bought cake. And balloons.”
He then smirked at her. “You are definitely going to be my favorite, if you at least sneak me out for a smoke. I just have to be back before she wakes up, or she’ll freak out and think I’m doing reckless things.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll have you out and back in, in no time. I’m like a super secret ninja.” Mary shrugged, grinning at James.
James was just so tired of the Hospital already. He was glad he got to be close to Lily, but he didn’t do well with the hospital and he missed his bed. He needed a cigarette too. He went to sit up and try to get out of bed, when he heard the door and hoped it didn’t wake Lily. “Unless you’re getting me out of here, go away.”
Mary had spent too long hyping herself up to visit her best friends, to the point where she almost forgot to visit. Truth be told, she was holding back - guilt gnawed at her stomach over the whole situation. “Well, consider me your guardian angel, Potter. Usually I wouldn’t condone sneaking out, but... I’m bored and Lily’s sleeping, so you’re the next best thing.”
“That’s what they do, Mary. Not the people who go missing, but… you know.”
“I know but it wasn’t... Him.”
“It’s a war, Mary. “ Sirius shrugged his shoulders, but he was angry at the entire thing.
“I don’t want to be part of this war, Sirius. What person does? I just want them home safe.”
“I don’t understand how they’d just... go missing. Two people. Disappeared... I don’t... understand.”
Sirius held up the copy of the Daily Prophet then handed it to her. “Well, now it’s public knowledge and I got into a motorbike accident, I’m a lot better now, clearly.”
“They’re missing....” Mary murmured quietly to herself, clutching the paper with a death grip. “Merlin.” There wasn’t much else to think about; her best friend and her best friend’s husband were missing. Although, did she still count Lily as her best friend? Mary had been off doing her own thing; it was hard to tell. “Oh, right. Are you... okay?”
