Shaping a Positive Digital Future!
As time passes, it is incredibly important to recognize how emerging technologies can transform our daily lives, including our digital future. As we discussed throughout the previous modules we have learned about various different technologies that can help transform our digital future. These emerging technologies include blockchain, 5G technology, and digitally extended realities (AR and VR).
Blockchain:
Blockchain is one of the underlying technologies that run different types of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, and more. This blockchain technology is great because of the data security and it essentially holds a trustless transaction. This trustless transaction removes the need for any "man in the middle" type of transaction which can boost trust and efficiency. Blockchain technology cannot be replicated. This makes it a great fraud prevention feature as the increased transparency that blockchain has will help to prevent corruption and fraud.
5G Technology:
Having 5G technology allows us to have incredibly fast speeds with low latency and increased connectivity! 5G can allow quicker exchanges of small packets of information between different devices or technology. For example, in order to have safe driverless cars in today's digital era, we must first allow these cars to be able to interact with other cars or traffic signals. Driverless cars need to exchange packets with other devices and having a low latency will definitely help make these exchanges even quicker. 5G can also help smart cities and other Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This is because 5G offers devices to connect to each other, further enhancing the efficiency and productivity of our daily lives. Smart cities will be built with sensors almost everywhere so that real-time data can be exchanged with the help of 5G technology. This will allow for dynamic changes withing different city services such as street lighting based on the weather or traffic!
Digitally Extended Realities (AR and VR):
AR and VR technologies are hot topics in today's digital world. This technology can help us have immersive experiences that can help us learn, communicate, play realistic video games, and even watch 3D entertainment right in the comfort of our own homes. AR and VR technology can help our future generation in classrooms as it provides an immersive learning environment for students. Students will be able to hold the information better when they are actually engaging and interested in the technology equipment they are using. AR and VR technology also enhance the entertainment aspects by allowing for immersive gaming, real-life social media, and 3D cinema experiences. One recent example of this would be the Apple Vision Pros. This new VR headset is making a breakthrough in technology as it allows VR and AR to be paired with all Apple devices and services, offering a wide range of entertainment to choose from.
Codecademy Badges
I was able to successfully utilize Codecademy.com to learn more about different programming languages to improve my skills. The courses I chose to complete were "R for Programmers", "Getting Started Off-Platform for Data Science", Learn CSS: Browser Compatibility", "Learn to Code with Blockly", and "Introduction to Back-End Programming". For the R programming course, I was able to learn about basic syntax in R and different variable types as well. I've also taken the beginner data science course and learned command line interface setups and how to use Jupyter Notebook as well as SQL for the first time. These courses will benefit me in my workplace as I am currently interning for a data analyst position which requires me to leverage R programming to analyze data. I've also taken the Introduction to back-end programming course because one of my good friends is a back-end programmer and I was curious to learn more. Here I learned about the basics of what back-end means and what JSON coding is. Finally, I have also completed the "Learn to Code with Blockly" which is a beginner-friendly programming course. In this course I learned how to use variables, functions, loops, if statements, and lists.
Codecademy is a great free website to learn more about programming languages for employment. I can definitely see myself using Codecademy more to prepare me for interviews or learn a new skill for my role as a data analyst.

Meta Quest 3 Innovative Infographic
Hello, please check out my new infographic created on Venngage! This infographic explains a few reasons why the new Meta Quest 3 is an innovative technology.
Nova Labs - Cybersecurity Game
The cybersecurity game by Nova Labs was extremely helpful and accurately relates to the information provided in module 7.
Brute Force Attack Challenge
A brute force attack is when a cybercriminal uses software that can randomly generate millions of possible password combinations in order to guess a system password. In this challenge, we test how easy brute force attacks can occur on 4, 6, and 8-character passwords. Brute force attacks for passwords with 4 or 6 lowercase characters can be breached in 1 tenth of a second! When we start adding numbers, upper character letters, and symbols, the password is much more secure and the brute force attack can take much longer than the generic 4 or 6-character password.
Phishing Email Challenge
Phishing is essentially a form of deception which criminals will send an email, design websites, or text you to try and get your personal information or prompt you to click a link and install malware onto your computer. In this challenge, you need to spot all the differences for the two emails that are side by side. You can clearly see the difference between a real email and a phishing email. From playing this game, I can now tell if an email is a phishing email or not. Looking for key issues such as incorrect names, email address not matching to sender, and ungrammatical or misspelled language.
Botnet Challenge
Botnets are networks that leverage the computing powers of "zombie devices" that allow cybercriminals to carry out huge cyber attack operations. In this challenge, you are asked to program the bot to walk to the star. You can do this by using the various blocks that are present such as "move forward" and "turn left". Cybercriminals will use these same blocks to program the zombie devices to carry out larger and more efficient cyber-attacks.

Disinformation: Crypto Rug Pulls
In the above twitter posts from back in 2021, popular youtubers from the FaZe team decided they would like to create their own crypto coin. They urged that the main purpose for this coin is to give back and donate majority of the coins earnings while also gaining return on investment for investors. The FaZe audience supporters all fell for this scheme and bought into the crypto coin. They ended up closing the coin and withdrawing all investments, making investors lose their positions. This is a great example of disinformation because they spread false information that had an intent to harm their fan base by essentially pulling a crypto rug pull.
Misinformation: Masks = COVID-19?
The above article by the California Globe states that a new CDC study finds that majority of people infected with COVID-19 wore masks. Donald trump actually put more fuel to the fire when responding to an interview stating, "But just the other day, they came out with a statement that 85% of the people that wear masks catch it." The CDC had to take it to Twitter to address these claims and debunked this as simply misinformation. The CDC explained that there are high levels of mask use in public, but there are many activities that require the mask to be taken off to do such as eating and drinking at a restaurant. This is misinformation because there was no intention to cause harm, but simply false information spread around.
Mal-information: Hunter Biden legal and Personal issues
The above image showcases an article about Hunter Biden's legal troubles. Hunter Biden failed to pay taxes of up to 1.4 million dollars which he owed from 2016 to 2019. Hunter Biden is facing charges of tax evasion which does not display a good image for the president of the United States, Joe Biden. In this article it also explains how Hunter Biden has had issues with drug and alcohol addiction and issues with his marriage life. This is an excellent example of mal-information since the information being presented is true but spreading this information around can harm the president's image and voters may look elsewhere.

Self-Branding
With the rapid growth of the internet and digital content creation, many personalities have been rising to the top. One of these personalities is Dr. Disrespect. He is known for his hilarious internet persona while streaming video games. His fake mullet, sunglasses, tactical red vest, and mustache are great examples of self-branding. Herschel Beahm IV (Dr. Disrespect) created a character that perfectly appealed to his audience's sense of humour.
Dr. Disrespect's massive growth came from building a loyal community by mixing authenticity with entertainment. His brand and saying is the "Two-Time Champion" which shows confidence and success. Dr. Disrespect's ability to portray the same persona throughout all other social media platforms allowed viewers to have a unique memory of him. His main success came by leveraging his persona which in this day and age where almost everyone has a social media account, it's important to stand out from the rest of the crowd!
Online Netiquette
In the above screenshot, you can see an image of a Toyota Supra. This image follows the online etiquette tips since this image is not offensive and the poster was able to give credit to the photographer. Now the comments on the other hand do not follow some of the tips presented in the online etiquette. specifically, the tip regarding addressing complaints or concerns. The poster did not respond to any of the toxic comments but the users who posted the comments have not followed the tip about not flaming others or being passive-aggressive within the post. A few suggestions that I would give to the poster of this image is to add a better description to the post that gives users further insight into the vehicle. An in-depth description about modifications done or explaining the story of the car can help reduce some of the negative comments. The poster can also try to interact with his community more by liking each comment and replying to some comments to sustain his audience.
