. . . . . . #terracotta_gabs #terracotta #ceramics #ceramica #art #cdmx #mexicanartist #mexicanart #contemporaryart #cerámicaelolvido #ceramicsdaily #ceramicsmonthly #emergingartist #contemporaryceramics #ceramicist #mexicandesign #diseñomexicano #hechoenmexico #makersmovement #makersgonnamake #femaleartist #womeninceramics #gabrielamárquezceramista #cremerging #bottle #ceramicstudio #handbuiltceramics #glazingpottery (at Cerámica El Olvido) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC13nV0Dy9v/?igshid=1enjgbkzdo7zy

Morel Doucet (1990, Haití). “Within the vocabulary of indigenous art and my dreams, I create whimsical forms resulting in a diary of self-mythology. These exchanges allude to a larger conversation about sea-level rise, environmental pollution, and the displacement between descendants of the African diaspora, and their physical environments. Through intensive detailed labor, my work mimics the current state of Black fragility.” #blackouttuesday #moreldoucet #ceramics #takeaknee #amplifymelanatedvoices #amplifyblackvoices #bipoc #bipocartists #bipocceramicists https://www.instagram.com/p/CA9wT7cjWDR/?igshid=wqf65gwi1r28
Malcolm Mobutu Smith (Michigan). “There’s a mystery about graffiti, there’s a mystery about improvisation, about the woefulness of taking risk and stepping out knowing that you will solve the problem in the process of doing the problem.” #malcolmmobutusmith #ceramics #blackouttuesday #amplifymelanatedvoices #amplifyblackvoices #bipoc #takeaknee https://www.instagram.com/p/CA9fg_tjAa-/?igshid=17gy500ev061y
Kevin Snipes (1963, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). “Especially in ceramics there are not that many Africanericans, and so I think a lot of times the burden of being African American ceramic artist is that people expect you to make ‘black work’ and my way of dealing with that is to talk about of something deeper than ‘blackness’ which is actually the concept of ‘otherness’. ‘Otherness’ can mean many different things, but it does, it means basically, create a sense of self on the other.” #blm #blackmutedtuesday #amplifymelanatedvoices #amplifyblackvoices #takeaknee #kevinsnipes #blackouttuesday https://www.instagram.com/p/CA8pinjjLgD/?igshid=1cgguqs5xc226
Donté K. Hayes (1975, Baltimore, Maryland). “Ceramics becomes a bridge to conceptually integrate disparate objects and or images for the purpose of creating new understandings and connections with the material, history, and social-political issues. I compare the construction and deconstruction of materials to the remix in rap music and how human beings adapt to different environments and reinvent new identities. These ceramic objects are vessels, each making symbolic allusions to the black body.” #blackmutedtuesday #blm #amplifymelanatedvoices #amplifyblackvoices #blackouttuesday #dontekhayes #ceramics #takeaknee https://www.instagram.com/p/CA8dw5jDpKJ/?igshid=1rrdrujai92g
Magdalene Odundo (1950, Kenya). “The figure is a very important aspect of my work. It is not obvious but it is there. Some of them come from looking directly at young pregnant girls. They usually look absolutely gorgeous. And I wanted the pieces to have that fullness to them, that essence of carrying, without it being necessary to have water in them.” #blm #blacklivesmatter #blackouttuesday #takeaknee #magdaleneodundo #ceramics #blackmutedtuesday https://www.instagram.com/p/CA8SI2xDTLo/?igshid=g47e6mi0xrb9

Paul S. Briggs (NY). “I use a process I call “pure pinching.” That is, the goal of my practice is to be present to the largely intuitive process of growing a form, most often, out of one piece of clay—it becomes a mindful practice. I don’t add or subtract any clay.” #blm #blacklivesmatter #blackouttuesday #blackmutedtuesday #paulsbriggs #paulbriggs #ceramics https://www.instagram.com/p/CA8Ix7yjVqp/?igshid=qfutdatd0b5e
Simone Leigh (1967, Chicago, Illinois). "I came to my artistic practice via the study of philosophy, cultural studies, and a strong interest in African and African American art, which has imbued my object and performance-based work with a concern for the ethnographic, especially the way it records and describes objects." #blm #blacklivesmatter #takeaknee #blackouttuesday #simoneleigh https://www.instagram.com/p/CA8A9pVj1qF/?igshid=1c98pgwmmh885
