evil morty needed the council of ricks gone. he was always in charge, but from the shadows. he couldn’t control them all as freely until the original citadel was gone.

and he needed a rick to do the dirty work, without that rick knowing.

when evil morty did the math on most evil to least evil ricks, he was trying to figure out which rick would be capable of destroying the council of ricks.

he needed a rick petty enough to destroy an entire government because they wronged him once. a rick that already viewed any citadel rick as lesser than himself.

and he landed on our rick, rick-C137.

now rick destroyed the citadel just as evil morty planned it, and evil morty rose to power as president of the citadel.

he better hope our rick doesn’t find out he was manipulated, because if he does, rick will kill him, and I don’t think even evil morty will be able to escape

okay so I started rewatching Close Rick Counters of The Rick Kind.

I think evil morty chose the rick to bring down the citadel based of of which morty he had as well.

I mean, it was because of morty they escaped in that episode. that's what evil morty needed to happen.

he needed a morty that would fight back.

he may have even told the other captive mortys about the "one true morty" idea; to make sure they'd follow morty-c137 when he showed up preaching rebellion.

(that's probably a stretch, but I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility, I mean evil morty is pretty damn diabolical)
