My Writing:

My fanfiction writing has evolved. I don't use AO3 anymore due to the bots. I like the idea of writing OC fanfiction but having the OC be Y/N. I just include a profile for said Y/N because for each character I write for there is a certain Y/N I have in mind. I've seen other fic writers do this and I used to have OCs YEARS ago but found I like making multiple Y/Ns. I can still write reader inserts while having full control over the reader!

when you read the tlou fics do you read them as the game characters or the tv show? I’m very curious.

oh, okay !! sooo this is kind of a weird answer maybe but for me it really depends on the author im reading from and the way each character acts. my default is usually the game characters, but some writers that ive grown more familiar with write more for the show canon/appearances, so i see them that way, though that usually only applies to joel, ellie, sarah and sometimes tommy, unless explicitly described otherwise. everyone from part/season 2 is very much game to me however, even if i know that the writer is describing the show characters. does any of this make any sense? idk

if my child had missing limbs or down syndrome that would change literally nothing for me, these people can live full lives—literally ask people who experience this day to day. people with disabilities are deserving too. if a doctor told me my child was at risk of having down syndrome i would just change the way i planned to go about everything. i’d make sure my child could survive independently without me—it’s very possible.

Y/N Dynamic With Carlisle:

As suggested by the title this is Y/N dynamic with Carlisle. My version of Y/N is his mate and I will be using the same Y/N in my Carlisle fics. Maybe Twilight in general. I'm just going to steal every fictional world I like at this point. I like the idea of introducing these things in fics but let's face it: I'm way too disorganized. The fact that I acknowledge that in one of the bullet points below just says it. I already wrote a fic that doesn't entirely fit with my Y/N and that probably won't be the last.

The Olympic Medical Center is located in Port Angeles so he can pick up shifts there. They still get to see each other.

She will have a psych internship there so he can intentionally pick up the same shifts so he can have lunch with her or see her in the halls.

Psych and Medical aren't the same department but they do sometimes merge.

She analyzed him a lot when she first started having a relationship with him. (My fic Cognitive Dissonance takes places when she's already met the family but hasn't yet figured out he's a vampire, meanwhile I wrote in the dynamic she has with his family that she knew he was a vampire and dated him for two years...a detail I came up with after that fic has been long posted and doing really well so we'll just ignore that. 😀)

Their relationship is more adult than Bella and Edward's.

Carlisle really learned when it came to Bella and Edward...don't put the human in the family too early. Especially when she doesn't really understand the whole supernatural thing.

Carlisle makes sure Y/N is well aware of the supernatural before he allows her into his world.

Romantic dinners just the two of them far away from the kids.

Carlisle's got some guilt. He's mentally over 300 years old while the humans wouldn't bat too much of an eye because while his reputation says he's 30 something most say he's a handsome doctor. So it's okay. The age gap isn't too big.

AI shit does piss me off bc you don’t have to do any of that shit. If you don’t like drawing then you don’t have to be an artist. If you don’t like writing you don’t have to be a writer. If you don’t like making music you don’t have to be a musician. I am making a Devil May Cry Magic set. All Magic cards have pictures. I just decided the Bant deck needs a board wipe that can also hose the graveyard, so I designed "The Savior Has Come," a spell based on a pivotal point in DMC4 where the Savior shows up with an army of Angelo knights to defeat a horde of demons (released by the same people that made it) that lets you destroy all of multiple types of permanent, but for each type of permanent you destroyed, you give all your opponents a Knight token to represent the Angelos that "came to the rescue." I think this is a cool, unique, and creative effect that captures a pivotal moment in the story that lets this deck have a card it needs to have. This card has to have a picture on it.

If anyone had ever drawn fanart of this moment, I would use it with credit but without asking them for permission and you would not have a problem with it. But nobody has ever drawn fanart of this moment. No concept art of it exists. The only images of it are screencaps of an Xbox 360 game, with Xbox 360 model and texture quality, where no single frame actually captures all the elements of the event (the laser only fires when nothing else is in frame, the Savior and the demons getting lasered are never in the same frame, the lighting is really bad and the Savior's details can't be made out). In order to use this card I designed, I have exactly two options:

- I can use Gemini to synthesize the pose and framing from one frame, the laser from later on, and the detailed design from a frame where it's clearly visible, redraw it in a more painterly style, and create an image that does not look like complete shit and conveys what moment the card represents.

- I can use an X360 screenshot that looks like complete shit and doesn't actually get across the visual of the event it depicts.

I'm not paying an artist $200 for a card for a custom Magic set. I'm not learning digital illustration because I'm not here to make illustrations. I'm here to design cards. Option 1 and Option 2 are the only possibilities. Why should I pick Option 2?

I used to design all sorts of magic cards when I was younger. (Back in the early 2000s). And I can promise you that actually, no, you don't need pictures to design magic cards. That's actually not a requirement for card design.

I know this because I did it all the time. I would just write up the mechanics and card design and then play around with them.

You don't have to create these images to create this set. You can just make the set of DMC themed cards and then leave the image section blank. That is a perfectly valid option that I have used literally HUNDREDS of times in my life. If what you REALLY care about is "Designing cards" then there is no reason for you to be generating illustrations. That's not actually part of the design process at all really. I'm sure that if you sat in on any design session at WotC for a magic set you would not find a single finished illustration because the illustration is not part of the design. It's part of the flavour text.

IF the thing you want is a magic card that looks official and has official looking art then you are no longer talking about card design. You're now talking about being an artist. Option 1 and Options 2 are a false dichotomy you made up.

This does bring up another aspect about the AI discourse I find irritating that wasn’t explicitly included in my initial post is how entitled people feel towards art without any respect whatsoever for the artists whose work is scraped to create those generated images. Everyone wants art but few want to pay for it or try to make it themselves.

The option of a rough sketch in ms paint or creating an approximation via photoshop are and always have been valid options to create a visual for your project if your requirement is low effort and free of charge. You could also literally just use a screenshot of the game you’re making a set of cards based on.
