So, I'm a really big fan of the Chinese kids show "开心超人", or "Happy Heroes" in english. Thing is, I'm not very good at Chinese, so it's hard to find other fans. So, I'll be making my own posts about these kiddos.
I AM NOT A FAST ARTIST, so please try not to be bothered if it takes me a long time to answer these questions. The intro took me a week, man.
I can and will ignore any questions that I am uncomfortable with. If it seems innocent enough, I'll answer privately/announce that I'm not answering it so you won't be left wondering.
Be respectful. Should go without saying but please just be nice to me, other askers, and the characters.
Try to avoid asking the canon!group? Comparisons are fine, but everyone already knows who they are, so what's the point?
I HAVE ONLY SEEN UP TO SEASON 15. I'll get around to watching the rest of it someday I promise eventually it's' coming I promis
Most of these AUs are unfinished, so I can and will change things as I think of them.
Possibly more as I go along
Anyway, let's get into it! Intro is here, and below are the different AUs that you can ask!
Origins
We are the origins.
Canon. It's canon. I'm mainly putting them there to be surprised at everyone. I wonder if they'll ever figure out that they're the base because I'm certainly not telling them.
Mirrored
We are mirrored. The same yet entirely our own.
Haha, canon sucks. This is an old WIP that I don't think I'm ever gonna finish.
Programmed
We do not fight because we were programmed to. We fight for each other.
One of the earliest attempts of planet Grey to take over Star was the establishment of a company named Iron Bolt. They create weapons, those that will eventually aid in a total takeover. One of their latest and longest-running projects is androids. Robotic weapons with consciousness, intelligence, power.
So we all agreed Sweet's 5th movie design sucked right?
Right, so let's fix it. (Spoilers. Duh.)
Look at this
(Sorry about quality. This is a screenshot of the trailer.)
Almost nothing about her changes!!! They literally just put a purple filter over her. Nuh uh, she deserves better than that.
Here's my shot of it!
The spikes on her helmet are like the only thing anyone liked so we're keeping those
Asymmetry!!!
The star/flower symbol was changed to a 5-point one to better fit with the plant themes and also because five is the magic number here
Pigtails looked a little too childish for a villain design, so I opted to put it in a bun. She looks so entirely calculating and efficiency-driven, so we gave her something out of the way
Desperately trying to add orange to her design #3, we were so close to a full rainbow guys
Everything in cool colours. Symbolism, Sweet's design has always been warm, but this... isn't really her, is it? Even the heart, (arguably) the main symbol on her, blends in instead of standing out. Also contrasts the orange
The skirt is actually an element from the redesign I did of her not-villain design
Five-point flower referencing her team thereby implying she isn't totally lost is not something I did intentionally but will totally take credit for
Bright pink eyes slap you in the face with their saturation!!!!!!!!!!
I know I'm far from the only person to attempt this, so feel free to give this a shot of your own! I'd love to see them!
Bonus:
Concept designs from back when we only had a shot of her face.
Let's redo some story elements while we're at it. For reference, we assigned the names Violet for the main antagonist and Orchid for her sister so that we would have something to call them in English.
Violet is a powerful sorceress for her species. Can and would do anything for her people. She has an artifact, called a Sun Stone, given to her. It's a source of energy, cause you know, sun give plant energy. Sweet's posessed form is also wearing it! Violet was assigned by her chief to save their species, and she is very, very dedicated to it.
Orchid wasn't supposed to be a part of the mission. The problem is that she's dying just like most of their people. Violet's magic is pretty much the only thing keeping her alive. She has no choice but to come with. The reason Violet is so protective of the Sun Stone is because without it, she won't have enough energy to keep Orchid alive.
This is just a design thing, but Violet has vines around her. It started out as a symbiotic relationship, but the massive amounts of energy she spends trying to save her people keep overcharging them, causing them to wrap and bind around her, so by the time we get to the start of the movie, she looks like a proper villain.
Which is basically almost every single HH drawing in my sketchbook. Let’s go
Jesus this one is OLD but it’s an incorrect quote
I used a ton of screenshots as posing practice. Everyone say thanks HH
Okay but like what if they swapped weapons
Kingdoms AU featuring Joy and Angel (Take a guess at who they are I dare you). Angel has the unconscious habit of copying the guys' mannerisms.
Long road trip, so how about a two-stage pokemon line of shapeshifters/copycats where the first stage is based on Kirby and the second is based on Shapeshifter?
Names inspired from: Kaabii, oobleck, the pinyin for transform, and banshee. Jewlfruit is also a reference to gem apples and Shapeshifter's obsession with fruit that I totally didn't just misspell
Some sketches of headcanons, such as the heroes' version of a fist bump (easier to do from any angle), their love languages, and Happy being a saint as always.
Movie 4 redesign that I didn't put much thought into
Sweet, distantly: Careful!
Sweet: Careful! You should get down. It's dangerous this high up.
Careful:
Sweet: What?
This also served as inspiration for the one time I gave everyone new outfits + How I will forever draw Bubble Person now
Careful just hanging around the other heroes.
Redraw from one of the movie 5 posters because we all hated how much emphasis they put on her lips.
My version of Smart got tattoos during season 13 sort of out of impulse because he missed his team. He got them to match.
Sweet has crack scars from overuse of her energy, they kind of get larger every time she does that
Careless has a similar scar, just on his right hand, from S12
Careful has an actual lightning scar on his right arm from when the core duplicates were formed
Happy doesn't have lightning/crack scars, but this is the end of S13. He will get punched in the chest so hard he nearly dies soon enough.
Oh, and the thing on everyone's wrists are from the second movie
Their powers make no sense. Not even to the heroes.
The kiddos have been in battle all their lives. Slowly, eventually, they develop signals to keep their intentions hidden and/or quicker.
Notes under the cut
We know that nothing can stop one of the guys once they have their minds set. They know that too. That look of apprehension? Knowing that they can't talk each other down, nor would they want to? Eventually came to mean "good luck."
The "spread out" gesture really quickly also means "scatter."
Characters' "I'm me" gestures are their names in ASL (aka old-Star sign language. The modern one adapts for robots that don't have fingers.) It was developed specifically as a mind control/possession measure, but nowadays, they do it unprompted, for reassurance.
"Good job" gesture doesn't need to be reciprocated to have meaning
Happy was panicked and did the first thing he could think of to get his team to back up: nearly hit them. It hurt, at first, but it worked.
