i just wanna talk about wilford warfstache for a hot second,,,,
i know wilford’s sexuality hasn’t been confirmed, but there is a lot of evidence now supporting that wilford is most likely pansexual. i just have a few notes but both in wmlw and now in ahwm, there’s a lot to work with
in wmlw : wilford casually asks detective abe if they’ve dated before, to which abe says no and wilford shrugs like it’s nothing. pretty straightforward. there’s also another scene in which wilford states that he changed his name because he married into that name (wilson jackson bartholomew iii), which given this, perhaps wilford got married to a guy at one point and took his husband’s surname. and then there’s the part where wilford talks about celine and how his heart still beats for her. celine is most likely his first love, and typically you never forget your first love. (which is understandable, i mean celine is gorgeous)
in ahwm : the most obvious evidence would be wilford’s rainbow suspenders, which is a pleasant change given the fact that wilford typically wore pink ones. also, wilford asks us to rate our accomplices on a scale of how handsome they are to how beautiful they are. one could argue that this shows wilford’s fluidity of attractiveness, that regardless of gender they are either handsome or beautiful in his eyes. and also the subtle fact of the lighting, the blue and pink lights on either side of wilford, while wilford’s bright yellow shirt stands out in the middle. pink, yellow, blue, the colors of the pan flag.
so if this is mark’s way of him saying that he is accepting that the community perceives wilford as being pan, or he’s even subtly confirming wilford being so, then i am absolutely on board with it. as someone who is bi, it’s nice to see a character with so much depth and story such as wilford be accepting of being open to having different types of partners.
