no one but professional trainers has a full team of 6 in the pokemon universe because it would be a fucking gigantic hassle to deal with 6 animals, let alone different types that need different things

some people don’t evolve their pokemon because imagine having a fucking cat and then you can choose to make the cat five times as big and strong. would you do this if you weren’t battling.

Technically if your cat isn’t battling it doesn’t evolve.

That does however give cat owners a strong incentive to not let their cat outside, because realistically any cat that is allowed to roam free is gonna rack up exp until it evolves.

The dynamic between Calem and Serena is really hard to pinpoint and something I want to nail down as what I see it as. The game simplified it due to its... ahem lack of polish but I think there's a reason I started to write my own thing for those two and am fond of Calem.

My vision for Calem and Serena is that they're two friends who feel like wasted a year in a Golden Goose Chase and are trying to rekindle the fire what was almost lost and not closest of people. Both trust the other to get their experiences but instead of full instant friends the past year affects the whole friendship and they know it & push past it. It takes some months but they're platonic soulmates who were meant to meet each other.

Calem is well aware of his competitive strike and how it can blind him and how his direct comments on specific events can hurt + how some of his unintended comments can seem weird because he is seen as calm on the outside. Due to that he's double-checking some of his topics or comments because he doesn't want to fail ever again. He also doesn't want to give same vibes as his father, what makes his attempts in being a fair Trainer even harder to explain.

Serena is aware on how she's the polar opposite of Calem, emotions show easily to her and while she can act happy when it gets bad she cannot hide it. At times her past mood bubbles to the surface but she's not the type to hold grudges if the person has genuinely apologized to her and she's accepted the said apology. Due to that she's holding back some of her immediate reactions, not wanting to make the friendship rebuilding more awkward or letting past to repeat itself.

Both are trying to Speedrun their friendship rebuilding, not seeing it can happen immediately and will feel embarrassed about it but not regret on seeing effort.
