Have any thoughts about the hunter mv? I'd love to hear what u have to say abt it!
oh man anon, i have so maannnyyyy
this may take a while, so sorry if this reply is posted ages after you sent the message, aaaannnd as usual, aorry it doesn't flow to wrll, i just blurted my thoughts out as they came.
firstly, overall, excellent!
the gritty aesthetic, the horror elements, the choppy and fast-paced effects & editing, the cuts to found-footage style, the LACK of ai, and use of real locations! (which should go without saying, but unfortunately ai is becoming even more prevalent in mv's these days) it looked so so good!
the like abandoned atreets and warehouses allow for those big epic dance mumbers, and i love it! it's so theatric and plays into exactly the kind of thing kibum does best. drama, art, story. so good.
i love the ritualistic, cult-like vibe of those scenes. like when we first big dance sequence and red-haired key is in the streets, and jock kibum is fighting through them to escape. it's creepy because it's like, he has all these people in a trance, like he's pied-piper'd them. jock kibum is pushing his way through them and just keep dancing.
and i love theme of fighting different sides of yourself, trying to kill the other off, neither obviously bad or good. but them ultimately merging together!!! key actually has a lot of songs with themes of differing personalities and personas/internal demons ect and coming to terms that they are all part of you.
"look finally, we have become one. you're the hunter, we seep into each other"
and let's talk about it - that plays so much into the queer themes of this entire album!!
sense of self, inner demons, fighting yourself, accepting yourself, saying goodbye to the old you and embracing the new, fear, guilt, sex, danger. i don't need to go on, y'all get it.
also, seeing him have chemistry with himself? mwah! i love the scene where red-haired key is tied up (duh) and when both of them are glaring at each other. so good, so unsettling, so dark, so sexy!
also also, my absolute fave sequence in the mv is where he's dancing alone whilst walking through the halls?? you get it. and where he's all draped across the walls, and it cuts to those cult like group numbers, where they dancing all jerky around the hanging body!! (which judging by the outfit, is white-haired non-binary deity key "it". so the ritual is to ressurrect them? hence the like, danving around and like chanting vibe they give offf? does that make sense jdjdjdjs)
amazing! it really gives gaga to me, like that bit is so iconic, it just, had an aura. that scenes had me like 'yeah, this man is an ARTIST'.
and, to end with him absolutely decimating the body in the trunk with the ahovel? fuvking love it. it's not kften you see someyhing so dark in a mv, and it's a little shocking, again, cut with all the jerky dance scenes. excellent piece of horror media in my opinion!!!!
and then that ending "key is no longer identifiable" love love loovveeee! reinvention of oneself!!
but yes, i love how grandiose it all is, it's a show, it's theatre, it's????? exactly what i want from kibum. i am so proud of him.
he's so gokd, it's all juat so goood.
