expressing nonhumanity is (or at the very least can be) a very alternative, counter culture move. normative society limits people's self-expression, and one of the many things it prohibits is being animalistic. normative society puts humans on a pedestal and does everything it can to separate them from nature. being alterhuman is fundamentally going against that system by blurring those very lines it constructed

now, for involuntary alterhumans, expressing oneself is often a need, not a want

but there really are just mfs out there who choose to be unapologetically feral, not because they feel it in their core, necessarily, but because they want to

they actively aid the broader alterhuman community in propagating nonhuman self-expression and help us challenge the system, not because it's their only option, but because they saw it as an option and thought it was interesting enough to dedicate themselves to it

and that's so fucking punk!!!

we should be more thankful for our otherlinker, otherpaw, furry, and all our siblings in adjacent communities for popularizing our way of living, not because they needed to, but because they wanted to

Yesterday I went to the gym, and if you know me you know I’m just a dog at the gym like I am anywhere full set of gear, wolf make up, wolf accessories all over, pin that says “I’m a wolf”. And normally no one asks me about it but this time this man went out of his way to ask what species my tail was and if I identified as that species or considered myself to be that animal and I said sort of the tail is a coyote and I’m a wolf very nervously.. but he was like oh well that’s cool I was curious cause I’d read about this before. And I thought that was very interesting that this 50 something year old white man would be chill with a 19 year old gender-freaky disabled girl limping on a treadmill being a wolf. Just a positive experience in general but I still had a little anxiety attack from being perceived. I’m not as confident as I’d hope heh.. I’m totally fine with people noticing me as long as they don’t ask me questions..

CRITTERLIKE

Critterlike (like a critter) is a community and identity that encompasses the lifestyle of acting like an animal in a SFW way, be it dressing kemonomimi, using dog bowls, playing fetch, going for walks, collecting pet toys etc

New term new term! Critterlike is for anyone and everyone, so long as animal activities or dress are a part of how you present yourself! You don’t have to be alterhuman, it can even just be a hobby! Treat this as an umbrella term for furries, therians, otherpaw, kemonomimi etc

The term is specifically SFW! A lot of minors find themselves in petplay spaces when doing activities they deem innocent, because they overlap with those spaces. This term allows them to find people their own age, as well as other people doing things in a sfw way!

The softer, more pastel flag is for earthly critters! The stripes mean: warm blooded critters, sky critters, land critters, sea critters, and cold blooded critters.

The second flag is for unearthly critters, and the stripes stand for: warm blooded critters, fantasy critters, fictional critters, space critters, and cold blooded critters!

Have fun, feel free to use this term wherever!
