Bliadhna mhath ùr!
Every year it seems to get a little more difficult, but somehow Siobhan always manages to find the right ingredients (or close approximations) and she pulls it off.
Trifle is a long-standing tradition in the Muncaidh clan!
los-operators:
“You basically asked for my opinion and I gave it to ya. You’re free to keep it close or not. Doesn’t matter to me. I’m not the one who is going to live with it. Just to let you know, once its on you it’s never gonna come off. It will be on ya till you’re just ash and bone.”
“Had I known your opinion would be so scornful, I probably wouldn’t have bothered. And yes, I’m aware of the permanency of a tattoo, thank you. What would be the point of it if it came off after a few washes? Seems like you’d spend caps and effort on nothing at all if it didn’t last forever.”

Her heels drummed slightly against the black-etched boards idly as she worked a wide-toothed comb through her hair, brushing some kind of goop into the damp black mass of it. She blinked at the woman with a bemused expression, eyes flickering to check if she was armed, as well as any other pertinent details.
She blew out a breath and grinned slightly. “Hain’t found nobody local yet, t’be honest… Heard of a guy, but I need’ta check.”
“Abbey o’ th’ road s’posedly has someone… Hain’t found them yet, though. Heard they’re somewhere west’a th’ Commonwealth. So I do most of the work m’self, when I have the mats.” Bright blue eyes almost closed with the broadness of her grin.
People did some peculiar things. Like whatever the woman was doing with her hair, but it wasn’t Siobhan’s place to remark upon it. Or to judge. Each to their own and all that jazz.
“I’ve been looking for someone who could help me. I’m not so technically minded. I can change a wheel, assuming I have a replacement, but I scarcely have the time to perform a full overhaul. Perhaps I should just look into getting a whole new cart, but I’m not sure that I’d find one in any better a state.”
Wandering closer, Siobhan looked the stranger up and down.
“West of the Commonweath, you say? Can you offer any accurate details about them?”
lastofthepast:
“Better safe than sorry.” Laura frowned, contantly surprised by the number of people who didn’t know about the Library. “Boston Public. It’s run by two people, they’re cleaning it up.. Working with the Minutemen a bit, I try to donate what I can.”
“There’s nothing quite as satisfying as curling up with a good book after a hard day’s work. I’ve got quite the collection! Never been to a library, though. I either find my books or sometimes folks give them to me as payment. I confess that I’m a sucker for a racy romance novel.”
succubusscience:
“Let’s be on our way then. We have to get there early if we want to get the best. I’m in need of new clothes. Something nice and beautiful that goes well with my lab coat. A family friend from back home gave me this when I was moving to the Commonwealth. It’s armored.
“You’re going to match up some fancy lingerie with a lab coat? Okay, then. Whatever floats your boat! For the record, I’m kidding there. I know exactly what you meant. I’ve never seen nor heard of an armoured lab coat. Sounds awfully heavy. I assume you know where you’re going, so I shall let you lead the way!”
radiatedgreenhouse:
Katherine was enthralled. She hadn’t met someone who had been so involved with coffee as her new found friend was.
“Oh, I agree fully. I sometimes grow my own coffee beans, and it takes so much time and practice. It’s so very worth it though.”
A smile lightly spread as they spoke. This conversation was long due in her book… A conversation about coffee. “If it’s not too much would it be alright if I could watch you brew and make me a cup. I’ll pay however much you’d like.”
She said without considering how many caps she actually had on her.
Involved wasn’t a strong enough word; Siobhan’s entire existence revolved around coffee. It was the first thing on her mind when she woke up in the morning and the last thing before she went to sleep.
“You grow your own? How in the world do you even do that? I’m stuck scavenging for whatever is leftover in the world and here you are with your own crop!”
What was that feeling in the middle of her chest? She doubted she was having a heart attack, so it must be... Ah, yes. Jealousy.
“You can watch me brew if you want, although I tend not to do it on the road. I fill up my urn and take it out. If you really want to see me in brewing action, you’d have to be at my place around five o’clock tomorrow morning.”
los-operators:
“You’re going to regret it if you went ahead and do that. The ones that I have on me have a much deeper meaning. They tell the story of my life in a way that words wouldn’t describe it very well. A coffee cup with a smiling face is something a drunk would get. So the guy fixed your roof? Good on him.”
“You don’t think that a coffee cup with a smiling face on it would tell the story of my life? Being happy and having coffee are both very important to me. One could say they both define who I am as a person. I don’t think I’d regret it in the least and even if I did, that would be my business, wouldn’t it? And yes, he fixed the roof then promptly disappeared.”
watchmedoakickflip:
Two sat and listened patiently as she talked, giving nods to show they were listening. Occasionally looking down to spin their straw around in the coffee cup to keep the sugar and cream from settling at the bottom. Taking a sip from it before they shook their head and hand to show her it was ok that she was talking. Motioning their hand for her to keep going and taking a long sip drink from their cup till it was almost empty.
“Oh, no. You don’t want to listen me to ramble on! Do you?” It was nice to have someone who’d listen to her woes - usually, it was the other way around and she was the one who let people unburden themselves. Such was the lot of bar tenders and coffee purveyors.
“Do feel free to jump in at any time, otherwise I will go on. My mother always said that I could talk the hind legs off a radstag and she probably wasn’t wrong. Mothers rarely are!” As she spoke, she held out her hand to take their cup for a refill. “Another?”

“When we marry, I propose we hyphenate our surnames. Mr Xavier and Mrs Siobhan Muncaidh-Cummings just trips off the tongue, don’t you think? Plus, think of all the fun we’d have spelling it for people!”
