Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson to Embark on a Road Trip Documentary Series for Netflix
A new three-part documentary series starring Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction is headed to Netflix.
The former bandmates embarked on a roadtrip across America that is described as a spontaneous adventure, complete with “reconnection, exploration and a lot of laughter,” per an official press release.
The series is meant to give fans of the stars a rare look inside the worlds of two of the most private former One Direction members, and is expected to include intimate conversations between the pair on life, love, loss and fatherhood.
The show will be directed by Nicola Marsh (“Song Exploder,” “Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story”), and is produced by Campfire Studios (“Unknown Number: The High School Catfish”; “Smartless: On the Road”; and “America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders”).
Both artists have had a busy year as solo acts and are teeing up for an even busier 2026. Malik recently announced a Las Vegas residency set for January of next year. Tomlinson, for his part, is following the release of his third studio album “How Did I Get Here?” (slated for Jan. 23) with a 2026 world arena tour launching next summer.
On his forthcoming album, Tomlinson said, “I sum up it as ‘The record I always deserved to make.’ My bread and butter is my honesty. I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope it comes through in the music. I’m still learning and getting better as a singer and a songwriter. I find it impossible to be complacent; it’s not in my vocabulary. For the first time now, I’m allowing myself to be the artist I’d always hoped to be.”
Malik completed a run of his own earlier this year in support of his fourth solo album, “Room Under the Stairs.” Last November, he kicked off his first-ever headlining tour, “Stairway to the Sky,” with a string of shows in London, Manchester and Edinburgh. Earlier this year, he brought the tour Stateside with performances in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles before concluding the trek in Mexico City.

i miss you
seeing zayn feeling so comfortable on stage and making little 1d references and speaking abt the band fondly and interacting with 1d edits on social media makes me super emotional bc i've spent the past 9 years defending him against people who said he never cared for 1d, called him selfish for leaving the band, called him an attention seeker on the rare occasion he did mention 1d. like yeah he said that he'd wanted to leave 1d for a long time and as a fan of the band maybe that ur feelings, but his 1d experience wasnt exactly the same as harry or louis' 1d experience. the racism and the islamophobia he was subjected to was vile. it would make anyone want to walk away and he dealt with it so gracefully. he hardly had any creative input bc his personal music tastes didnt mesh well with the music they made for 1d. he was just there to be the hot & broody one—and he's not even a broody person. he's a goof. he took his chicken to the vet. he won't name any new chickens bc he got too attached last time. he creatively hides greens in his daughter's food so she stays healthy. it warms my heart to see him enjoying a live performance again, to have the band start a song again bc he missed his cue and it's not a big deal! it's not something to get upset about bc he's surrounded by people who love him. i love him and im so happy hes having fun <3

“Payno, my boy, one of my best friends, my brother.”
been seeing a lot of “my inner child is grieving this Liam,” implying a version of Liam from 10 years ago, and I just want to be 100% clear that my whole 32 year old adult self is mourning the loss of a 31 year old man. A father, a son, a brother whose light was snuffed out too soon. A man who was meant to have more time, despite his mistakes, because he deserved to. I am grieving him. My whole self is grieving his loss.
*becomes everything I dreamed of when I was little and almost doesn’t notice*
I can no longer listen to Right Now without feeling sad and teary-eyed
i think the thing that's getting to me the most about zayn's post is that there are typos and mistakes in it. it wasn't some super well thought statement, zayn really was just pouring his heart out and it is just so so so raw. i'm so sorry zayn
you know the post that's like: one day I'll be 45 at a party and ill hear a one direction song and ill be dancing my heart out because I never learned to love anything as much as I love one direction?......... yeah.......thinking of that right now
as much as i'm hurting with them, i'm hurting for them so much more. if i'm this hurt, i can't even imagine what they all must be feeling
