I wonder if there will be an option for mercs to become even more fucked up after dying? The dying pissed them off and messed with their head (even more than it already was) to where people notice they're different.

I think that's a given considering all the trauma they suffered, so yes! there'll be a shift.

thinking a little bit about zed and his augmentation.

he's a bit of a brawler at heart, so having a full arm augmentation just made sense to him. steel makes for a whole lot harder hit than flesh and bones. with the bonus it won't wear down like joints or split like skin. he knows full well he can land a mean right hook, and block some level of physical blows face to face.

there's still gotta be limitations though. from finger to shoulder blade may have been replaced, but at the very end of it there's still that flesh and bone. still that vulnerability. can't be comfortable either. all of it has to anchor onto something. purely to other flesh can't be enough. half an arm or half a leg can have the other length of bone to hold fast to, but the whole thing, the whole arm? it's gotta hold onto something, and for zed having his whole shoulder blade gone, that just leaves rib cage.

not something zed likes to think about even though he can feel it. easier to focus on the fight than think

you really gotta respect that Ortega didn’t go (more) crazy during their grieving period because with how elusive and unphotogenic sidestep was their In Remembrance photo slide video probably looked exactly like that one Facebook throwback video that is 90% car crash photos.

Whatever he has planned will see you bleed out for good. Will end with you in an unmarked grave, your body decaying beneath the soil of a city you bled and killed for. It should be a comfort, to know you'll be free of the pain, of the burdens of existing as the kind of person you are in Vapolis but you're afraid still even as you surrender to it.

because I'm going to be a bit busier with some irl stuff, I've decided to release the first half of chapter 1 for public release. This portion ends just before the start of the first race. I expect there to be spelling errors and the like, I do not currently need those pointed out at all.

notes:

this includes a massive portion of words, and includes big chunks of the beginning having been rewritten, along with a call with the sponsor having been broken up a bit more and no longer is a mandatory thing to do.

the car choice has been updated with a whole new car, and car color has been made it's own choice so it's no longer locked to the model.

a couple new hair styles have been added.

THE DOWNSIDE: there's a scene missing currently. it's far from being up to snuff and it's only half finished with being rewritten. For the first test drive Axel's portion is currently hidden, but you can still hang back with Tye.
