Avengers Floral Headcanons
Steve: Steve’s favorite flowers are carnations. They remind him of his mom. His next door neighbor, Ms. Jenkins, had a Dianthus bush growing up that she’d let him pick on for Sarah whenever he kept her company in the afternoon. In the 30′s they were popular and rather cheap(high end being about 4cents), so when Sarah died carnations and Gypsophilia are what Steve place on her grave, replacing the wilting stems whenever he could scrape together some extra money to do so. Now Bucky brings them home for him, plentiful and in all kinds of bright colors, something to make Steve smile after a rough day.
Bucky: Bucky’s favorites used to be yellow and green button mums. Much like Steve’s they were easily attained and cheap. They were nice to give girls that he dated despite not caring much for them but wanting to be a gentleman. However, once he shook off Hydra and started to build his own life his neighbor gave him a succulent. When he and Steve began to build their lives together Steve was determined to find an apartment with a room with a large reading nook for Bucky to keep it in and expand his collection. Bucky likes not having to fuss over them too much, rescuing them from supermarket floral clearance sections and filling the shelves and window with them. He likes that if he has a rough week and has trouble climbing out of bed to take care of himself let alone anything else he doesn’t have to. On bad, but not terrible days he pushes himself to get some sun and lays in the nook with them as a sign of comfort.
Bruce: Bruce like Bonsai trees. He trims to help relief stress and cope. His favorite sits on his desk in the lab, housed in a rock garden. Whenever Tony starts acting up he just signs and picks up the little rake and starts grooming it again.
Tony: Tony’s favorite are roses. Antique pale pink roses remind him of his mom, strong and beautiful. He has white and cream in Malibu just to keep things stream lined and crisp but when he started staying in the tower more and then the compound, he keeps red around. He’s a traditional romantic and he likes crisp and classic colors. They are traditional elegance.
Pepper: Pepper’s favorite are Oriental Lilies like Stargazers. They’re beautiful and fill the room with pleasing scents. They also happened to be what Tony gave her mixed with the roses he gave her on their first date.
Pietro: Pietro’s favorites are peonies. They are beautiful and fleeting as well as being a symbol for compassion. They have a incredibly short season as well.
Clint: Clint’s favorite are Delphiniums (Larkspur). Far reaching and perennial much like Clint. After periods of rest Clint comes back stronger. He appreciates as a farmer the easy of them as well as the economics of bulbs and perennials.
Vision: Vision likes Poplar trees. They’re tall and regal much like him as well as sprouting from what they can. They grow large and quickly.
Wanda: Wanda loves Dogwood trees. They are often used for medicinal purposes as a pain reliever and fever reducer, and Wanda tries to help people as much as she possibly can. They were also a tradition she read about in a book when she was younger, where women were presented with them by men who wanted to marry them.
Natasha: Nat’s favorite is the Orchid. She identifies with them. They are difficult to care for, however, once you get to know what they need they become super easy.
Sam: Sam loves wild flowers, sunflowers, daisies, all of them. They’re bright and tend to be freely grown.
Thor: Thor loves redwoods. He enjoys seeing these towering earthly treasures. They’re sturdy and almost otherworldly, much like him.
Rhodey: Rhodey loves lavender. Calming and brilliant. Similarly he brings peace to those around him.
Scott: Scott likes wax flowers. Woodsy and clean smelling, it brings a brightness to him.
T’challa: African Violets, rare and wonderful, similar to his dedication and the strength he exhibits in his actions.
Nick Fury: Natasha gave him an orchid once. Its dried blackened stalk is still sitting in the window. He’s fond of it enough to not pitch it.
