So, just out of curiosity, are folks still in the market for Giles fics...? As in, if I were to start a long, slow-burn, adorable, semi-actiony series with Giles and reader... would I be benefiting anyone? Are we desperate enough for some Giles that we can accept super crappy series writing with good potential but presumably sloppy execution?

For self-asteem reasons, I'm asking for a friend.

One of the things that I've just recently noticed in TLOU is how differently Joel protects his personal life with Ellie throughout the first game.

Around the beginning we see Joel rip Ellie's head off for asking about Sarah, bringing up Tess, and talking about Joel's old friends. He very clearly was not interested in handing Ellie that vulnerability.

Now here he doesn't necessarily break that pattern, but he didn't shut her down so harshly. Even his tone was almost fond over defensive and frustrated. I don't know if he was trying to be more gentle after the whole situation with Ellie running away and their fight, but something was definitely different this time.

Not to mention that I'm pretty sure this was the first time that Joel actually tells Ellie something personal from his past instead of her just finding out from someone else.

Joel: What? A university?

Ellie: Yeah.

Joel: No, not as a student at least.

Ellie: Why not?

Joel: Uh... I had Sarah when I was pretty young.

Ellie: Oh... were you married?

Joel: For a while.

Ellie: What happened?

Joel: Okay.

Ellie: Too much?

Joel: Too much.
