Making this post in the year 2025: it will never not be funny to me how the Supernatural season 5 dynamic will be like Sam and Dean hit some impasse in their stupid quest-of-the-week and they go "shit we're stuck. Maybe Cas can help. Cas!"

And Cas will fall down from the rafters hitting every support beam on the way down and slam into the floor bleeding from all his eyes and missing most of his feathers like "Sorry for the delay. I'm being brutally and violently hunted for sport by every single angel of the Lord due to I betrayed all of them (my own family) in order to side with you two."

And Sam and Dean will be like "That's great or sorry that happened. Can you use your powers to transport us to the fuck-shit dimension? We need to go there for some reason." And Cas will say "Technically I can try but it will likely kill me." and Sam and Dean will be like "Sweet awesome you're the best Cas great."

And then Cas does it and it turns him into the angel version of roadkill and Sam and Dean are like "Yikes. Anyway" and shove his unconscious body into a motel room and forget about him because they've got stuff to do in the fuck-shit dimension.

i wish we’d gotten a scene during season 10 when sam & cas are sneaking around behind dean’s back to cure the mark where dean clearly thinks sam and  cas are hooking up (sam’s always disappearing, always on his phone, he was evasive when dean asked if there was a girl, there was that weird phone call from cas…) and he tries to have, like, a Talk with sam about it. like dean: sammy… listen. i know i talk a lot of crap sometimes, but i want you to know. you’re my brother, and it doesn’t matter to me that, uh. if you – you know, i don’t judge, i’m not that kind of guy, so if you… if you’re, well, you’ve always been a little (hand gesture), heh… i mean, i guess it’s not that surprising. sorry, is that offensive?

Gotta rant about this because I have strong opinions. I really really prefer to headcanon all the angels as ace but because that’s clearly not the direction they went in the show, I tend to headcanon cas as only being attracted to other supernatural beings.

Like the very few canonical instances of possible romantic chemistry we’ve seen from him were with Meg, April, and Hannah (debatably). So another angel, a reaper, and a demon. No humans. I think it’s because he ultimately still sees himself as their guardian- a protector/mentor type figure- along with the fact that he’s so so much older and more powerful and expansive than all of them. These factors combined make for a very uncomfortable power imbalance.

And you could argue he thought April was human when he slept with her, but he himself was also human at the time (or close to it anyway). So I would argue the entire experience of him even wanting to have sex with her was his attempt to assimilate and find comfort in the way he’d seen humans do before.

I also think this does fit the headcanon of him being asexual in a way- the concepts of both gender and physical intercourse are things he participates in as a tool to interact with the more simple beings around him- not things he actually values himself. Like, yeah he’ll let people call him a man… but that means nothing to him personally. Or yeah he’ll have sex with another being in a vessel if he knows they want it.. but it’s not something he’d desire on his own.

Idk. I just think it’s an interesting concept.

It’s a touchy subject but I kinda like that Loki’s file said “sex: fluid” instead of genderfluid because his physical sex is quite literally fluid- he’s a shapeshifter. And of course a bureaucratic agency like the TVA wouldn’t give a fuck about a person’s gender identity but would find their dimorphic anatomy to be relevant intake information 🤷‍♀️

Actually, it's funny to think about the implication that Thor and Loki were supposed to, on a lot of levels, iron out each other's kinks, so to speak, like Loki was genuinely supposed to function as the brains and the reason, and Thor as the brawn and the action, (grossly oversimplified version), which, again, is so crazy to think about on a lot of levels and only enforces some frankly dangerous co-dependency (Which is still clearly a thing in some way) but also imagining it in practise if the events of Thor 1 didn't happened is nuts AND on top of all this, this isn't addressing Loki's actual heritage or the fact that Odin initially had some sort of plan for that, to, essentially gain everlasting peace between Asgard and Jotunheim. Like how!!! We're only given that he hoped to unite their kingdoms someday through Loki, but we don't know how. Marry Loki off to someone in Jotunheim? Like, that feels like the most obvious answer, and yet you have to wonder why it wasn't put in motion in some way before Thor's coronation to the throne, unless it was and it All Went Sour, but Loki makes no reference to any such thing when he finally Finds Out, so again, many things to think about.

Loki to Odin was a contingency plan. So, he was being kept ‘just in case’ war broke out again between Asgard and Jotunheim, but even then… That’s kinda a stupid plan… Because let’s look at the two options here:

1. Odin took Laufey’s newborn, bastard son and saved him from “dying in the cold”, and was planning to use Loki as a ‘well, we have the heir of Jotunheim’ (assuming there isn’t an older sibling anywhere), to… unite the realms…? Why would Laufey care…? According to Odin, Loki was left to die…

2. Odin took Laufey’s newborn son who was the heir from the temple, where he was left for protection from the battle and Odin basically stole Loki from his family and was planning to go ‘hey, remember that son you had and lost? yeah, I have him, I saved him, you owe me’…? Laufey would… assume and know Odin stole Loki… That wouldn’t be a good peace treaty foundation??? Surely that would make things worse?!

So… yeah, both kinda suck from a strategic perspective (imo, but what do I know, I’m not a King of Nine Realms lmao). The ‘someday’ in Odin’s explanation does allude more to ‘the further future’ rather than immediate, but…

I imagine Odin had planned to use Loki literally not long after he found him and took him as a way to get Laufey to end the war and form a peace treaty, but he ended up not needing to do that. (This just makes more sense to me personally). So… he just had a Jotun baby in his possession… and was likely like:

“What do I do with this now?”

Andddd decided to keep him — ‘just in case’.

We could assume, if he truly believed Loki was left to die, that Odin didn’t want to sneakily return Loki once the treaty had been made because Loki would likely… well, die. Odin is manipulative and can be cruel/ruthless but he isn’t completely heartless.

I like to headcanon that Frigga was the one who reminded Odin that Loki was just an innocent baby, and sort of… encouraged him to keep him and raise him as their own. But either way, it’s so messed up that Loki had been alive for probably less than 72 hours and already was being used as a bargaining chip/political tool.
