Dear Mr Fry,

God did not create the world we see today. God’s creation was full of peace, unconditional love, coexistence of today’s predators and prays. Have You ever read the Genesis? This was a concious decision of the first human couple to introduct evil to the Creation. God’s love is freedom so they had a free will, they could choose between good and evil, they knew what they were doing while choosing evil. As so today we have a free will too and every day each human being chooses between good and evil. The grief we feel while seeing our misery, pain and injustice doesn’t give us the right to blame God for our mistakes.

Why we thank Him? And why do You think Jesus laid down His life for You, for me, for every human being? Because He wanted to give us a chance to come back to the world He created. Full of values we long for every day. Unconditional, pure love, respect, consolation, kindness or peace, sense and fulfillment.

Greek mythical gods. Well, if god is not all-wise, all-seeing, all-kind or all-beneficient, he/she is not a god anymore in my opinion.

Serious question: if something is incapable of knowing what good and evil is, can it truly commit an act of evil? When a dog bites a child, is the dog being evil, or is it just an animal behaving on instinct?

The reason I ask is because in Genesis, Adam and Eve take fruit from the Tree that gives them knowledge of good and evil. That’s their great sin. Yet before they take from the tree, they had no way of knowing that taking from that tree was evil. They had no way of knowing that disobeying God was evil, or listening to the serpent was evil. They were acting like a dog would: instinctively.

Yes, if You don't know that Your deed is wrong/evil, You haven't commited any sin. Sin is a coscious and intentional bad deed.

You know, the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil gave them [the first humans] ability to choose what is good and what is bad. That's the tiny detail. The serpent while temptating Eva told her that they would be just like God, they will decide what is good and what is evil. Their did commited a sin indeed, because they broke God's commandment. Consciously. He clearly told them that they mustn't take from the Tree because it would be really bad for them in cosequences.

You can see now that people really can choose and decide what is right and what is wrong. For example somebody can stole a fine laptop from the shop and tell that he/she had just wanted to sell it to have some money because he/she was hungry. Some people will say is wasn't bad but others will say that it was (he/she could take up an honest job, couldn't he/she?) . And a judge will say something different again. And how about lawyers? They job is about deciding what's wrong and what's right.

Adam and Eve were just supposed to trust God. They knew that disobeying Him was bad. They could choose. And they have chosen.
