From the Donated Articles Wing: Exceedingly long spoon, and two serving forks, silver plate servingware, dates of origin pending research
Provenance: Donated in 2012 by Pete Ascolese, a Friend of the Museum. Knowing the museum has an extensive collection of antique and vintage forks, Mr Ascolese acquired these pieces on behalf of the Museum from an Aunt. All three are silver plate. The exceedingly long spoon, however, is clearly the show piece here, and will likely earn a space in the Gallery, just next the exceedingly long scissors. The maker’s mark on the spoon is Reed & Barton; there is also a monogram on the handle, but it is unclear (possibly JSL). The maker’s marks on both the forks are Rogers, one being W B Rogers, and the other (with the cut-out fleur) is Wm A Rogers, via Oneida.
