yes! in my opinion, dataskywalker is a very likely candidate to be the former identity of the desolate/sentinel of the night. let me see if i can gather all my thoughts... long post so everything will be under the cut!
dataskywalker was announced dead/eclipsed during august of last year, and on that very same day, ace attacked ajar which forced ajar to put him out of his misery. as a result to this development, the desolate had some sort of awakening (if we are to assume this conversation is between the desolate (2) and another influenceling (1), which is likely! ace was ajar's "caretaker")
after data's death, flies (jack) got into contact with van1ty (kaitlyn) and ended up breaking the news to her about data's death. understandably she was very upset and ended up directing most of the blame towards flies, presumably for how he behaved towards the datascramblemania trio when data left the group. flies did not get along with data, but was friends with van1ty, and data was one of vanitys closest friends so BIG DRAMA... lots of it! this is a necessary recap and i think i covered what i needed to!
just a few weeks later after this confrontation about data between flies and van1ty... SUDDENLY... THE DESOLATE APPEARS AND IMMEDIATELY BEGINS TO MOCK FLIES FOR IT?
like, okay, wow? very suspicious timing? if we are to go off the basis that the desolate is someone we already know, then we have a very small selection that would make a reasonable amount of sense. the timing for all of this to happen right after data suddenly became relevant to the fracture of anti-night in present day? hmmm????
next is what i feel is the most damning piece of evidence. now, you're gonna have to bear with me here but i swear! there is something going on!
here is when the desolate began SPECIFICALLY picking at van1ty for the second time. you may think "well of course the influence is going for the most emotionally volatile person!" but then why do they not go for killermastez who is struggling just as badly, especially now with all the founders archive stuff? why VAN1TY specifically?
AND OF COURSE... WHAT THE DESOLATE SENT TO VAN1TY... IS A LOVE SONG titled "Did You Ever See A Dream Walking?" (iirc the version used is by Gene Austin) with how the desolate has been approaching flies in a very cruel/mocking fashion, the desolate almost seems like it's trying to lull van1ty into a false sense of security comparatively?
i personally do not think this is something we should gloss over! NOT AFTER FLIES SAYS "Guess they got closer during that time and its a little more personal than I thought it was" IN THE VERY SAME POST... why would flies word it that way? he obviously already knew that data, van1ty, and scramblester were very close friends. how can it get more personal than that, UNLESS...? something more than friendship was going on? (and no, this is not me just wanting my ship to be real for epic fan service, i genuinely think that flies is trying to suggest something there otherwise why would he repeat what we already know?)
another fact that i personally believe supports this theory is that the desolate is known to wear the mask of the phantom of the opera. a critical plot point of the phantom of the opera's story is that he is in love with christine daae, but christine is in love with raoul, her childhood friend. there is more nuance to that whole situation but the basic jist is that it is a love triangle. do you see what i'm getting at? very interesting choice to represent the desolate, and recallahollowheart is known to not shy away from it's references playing into the actual themes of the story (for example, The Matrix) !!! another thing is that the phantom is outcasted from society and hides himself away in the darkness, which could play into data not getting along with anti-night and having very few friends.
a smaller thing to note is that the phantom of the opera is a stageplay, as well as a movie. it is a very dramatic and theatrical story. it's not as consequential as the stuff above but flies has described data used to "speak like a guy from a movie", likely due to his interest in star wars but i do think it could play into why he would don the face of the phantom of the opera as well.
dataskywalker ending up becoming the desolate would make his death feel so much more substantial as well. as it is, it felt a little random to suddenly introduce? it was very out of the blue. with how the modern storyline is currently unfolding, i just can't see any other way they'd go with the desolate... the only factor i have not considered is the fact that the desolate has a "teammate". that is who he was talking to in the pastebins, and who he is pictured with in this image. the desolate is to the left on the tower, and there is another figure on top of the lamp.
if anyone needs a clearer shot of that person i can show it in the replies but i don't wanna clutter this post up too much. that's the only thing i haven't really taken into account here :'D
either way i do think based on what little we've seen of the desolate so far, there is a good amount of evidence leaning towards dataskywalker being their true identity. it would play into the datascramblemania trio side plot currently unfolding and honestly tie everything together really well. if anyone has any thoughts then pls feel free to let me know in the replies!
Ok so we can all agree that atleast 1 of the members in Anti-Night is in the lgbtq community right? (It's most likely gotta be either Flies or Katanas)
forgot to share, but i drew this a few nights ago !!! this myth was so interesting to me and i wish we got to see more of the story surrounding it :-( old roblox myths were my whole childhood so they have a very special place in my heart. I also just….never see any content for jewk or darvaan at ALL so here you go yay
