At the end of The One Shot Bank Job, Hardison tells Nate “yeah, you coulda done better”, and Nate replies “no... no I couldn’t have.”

And maybe he could have.  But I think that’s when he knew.  He knew he had created a team.  When he and Sophie realized the kids were on their own, they were worried.  But in the end, Nate found out that his kids could carry on without them.  And from that moment on, he wasn’t leading them-- he was training them.

When the client embarrassedly/shamefully/sheepishly/nervously/angrily tell Nate the point in the story where they fell for the con, Nate never, ever embarrasses them, shames them, laughs at them, snaps at them, or yell at them.  He doesn’t even blame them.  Because he knows some things are essentially out of their control.  He just nods.  The same thing has happened to him.  We’ve all been conned.  And just because Nate Ford is the master of the con doesn’t mean he thinks he’s above the con.

Leverage

Eliot and Sophie.  They have a unique bond.  Sophie uses the corrupt spots in people, and Eliot punches them.  Remember The Homecoming Job?  When Nate says they can walk away, Eliot turns to Sophie, and says “one more job” with that small smile on his lips.  They both know he’s staying.  Why did he choose to look at her?  It’s not just because she was next to him.  It’s because he has to stay to protect Hardison and Parker, and she has to stay to protect Nate.

That’s the real thing.  They are both in this to protect their found family.  And do good.  But mostly for the family.  Nate and Sophie might be mom and dad, aunt and uncle, but I think Eliot and Sophie will forever be the “dad friend” and the “mom friend”.

Both of them have dark pasts and secrets, but neither of them let that get in the way of their present.

and then i remember that i can’t get diagnosed for meds until i’m a legal adult anyway :)

I get that you may need to protect yourself, and I respect that.

But I have to wonder... am I going to see you in my school, my work, my library, my church, my neighborhood... down the barrel of a gun because you want to kill me?
